If you go to the Gateway support site and enter your serial number, found on the case by the optical drive, you can get instructions specific to your model. See here for example.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.

0. Buy the proper RAM card for your PC. If you don't know how to do this, you probably shouldn't be digging into your PC. Get someone knowledgeable to help you.
1. Turn off the PC.
2. Open the case and find the existing memory card slots.
3. Install your new RAM card into an unused slot, noting any notches in the edge of the card which must align with bumps in the slot. The RAM cards simply press into the slots and there are white clips at the edges of the slots that snap into the RAM card to hold them in the slots. You might need to move the clips away from the slots to allow insertion of the RAM cards. Then press firmly (remembering to check for alignment notches and bumps as noted above) until the card pushes into the slot and the clips pop into locking position.
4. The computer will probably automatically configure the new RAM or it may ask you to go into "Setup" to configure it. If so, just press the key suggested, look at the settings, and then "save and exit". All done.

Remove side of PC (left hand as you look from front) locate memory slots, make sure retaining clips are open, insert memory (correct way up) with firm pressure but do not force. Retaining clips will automatically click home. Replace side of PC.

You can try recovery tool to see whether your memory card corrupted or not. For example, 4Card Recovery, which is able to recover various files in a few minutes.
Step one, download 4Card Recovery online and install it on your computer.
Step two, run it and choose the files that you want to recover, of course, you can choose recover all files in case of the omission of anything.
Step three, scan it by clicking the 'next' button and wait for about ten minutes.
Step four, save the recovered files on other part to avoid losing it again.
Hope you can solve the problem with this. Have a try.

EMachines T3304 won't work with 2GB memory

might not be a working pair

are the memory modules of the same brand and type
IE: hynex ddr3 low density

if you're not sure if a module is right for your system, use the Crucial Memory Advisor tool for a list of guaranteed compatible modules. first you will need to select the manufacturer from a drop down list then select your product line from a drop down list then select the model then click find it will take you directly to compatible ram also you will have an option to scan your system

hope it helps

I recently purchased Two PNY 1Gb ram to upgrade from original 512mb. When I put both 1Gb ram in the slots, the computer will not boot up. When I take one out and put the original 512 back in with the other...

I don't know your specific model, but some of the Emachines had some memory directly on the motherboard. With the 1Gb and 512Mb sticks installed, boot the machine and report how much memory the system sees. Perhaps the onboard memory is causing you to exceed the 2Gb limit.

Please post the memory size you get here with the above sticks.

Thanks,
Dan

How do you remove and replace dell laptop memory? (d600)

I dont know this particular model, but usually it's underneath the computer, there is one screw to remove and you can take out a door which gives you acess to the memory slots. If it's not there, you will need to remove the top cover to get there. But it's most likely a small door underneath the laptop.

Not totally hung-up but lag during gamming

you have far too low system memory..... modern games use huge amounts of system mem as for your system, widows itself is taking up most of your 1Gb memory let alone any Anti Virus / firewall software installed

a quick mem upgrade should help as a first step.

RAM problem

Hello, if you have an intel m processor for your sony then u are somewaht out of luck. the base memory is 256 megs and it is not in the motherboard but rather integrated in one of the slots itself, that means if u put a 512 mb chip into that certain slot it will only read 256. a lot of people are mislead into thinking they can put two 512s and get a gig of memory, but not true, at least not with most of the sony intel processors. find the base slot by switching chips around, then leave the 256mb chip there. then u can add a 512mb to the expandable slot and get over 700bytes. if u can find a 1gb compatible stick, then try that the same way, leave the original hynix base slot chip in and add the 1gb, if u can find one, then u will have a little over 1280 of which u can up the video graphic usage up to 128 in the bios, and have your 1gb in memory. if u find a 1gb memory chip that work, drop a line as to what brand and size u used
