Hi,

This basically depends on your location, it would basically cost you below $50 to get it fixed.

Hope this would help. I had a bad one that i fixed and it had similar problems with yours. It cost me about $50 to get it fixed.

Cheers

Wont' turn on, this is kind of wide open question for me to reply to. Have you checked all the basics? If you opened up the welder, have you checked any fuses and looked all the connections over? Do a good visual inspection first thing and make sure you look for any blown fuse. Try to turn it on with cover off and note any conditions that might occur. Give the control module (electronic board) a good look and see if there are any burned components.

You could physically inspect all wiring within the unit to make sure every connection is secured. but sounds like you have a faulty switch. replace it and it should work fine.

Im not sure exactly what you are referring to from "primary" wires. if the leads coming from the power switch are still good, that goes to a transformer. that may be bad, But without some more info i cannot be more help.

Got anyone around with a multimeter? You need to see where the power drops -- primary or secondary side, control circuit, etc.

My snap on welder isn't working properly. With the heat dial turned all the way up, I have to turn the wire speed almost all the way down. Even with it in the hottest setting it welds cold. Won't even burn...

I own and love my Snap-On YA-212A and had a similar problem that turned out to be a power issue, not a welder issue. Repair costs and parts availability of these welders can vary wildly, it may be cheaper to replace it with a Lincoln, Miller, or Hobart. Snap-On uses more than one supplier to make their welders, if you tell me the exact model number I can probably tell you who manufactured it,
For now, try the following:
  1. Unplug the welder from the power outlet on the wall
  2. The power cable where it connects to the welder should be a twist lock type, make sure it is not loose. Take it off and look for any signs of arcing that look like it may have been a bad connection
  3. Look at the power connector that plugs into the wall and look for signs of arcing. If possible, take the back off the plug that goes into the wall and ensure that everything looks tight.
  4. Put the power cable back on the welder
  5. If your breaker box has a load controller turn it off and try your welder again
  6. Replace the circuit breaker in the breaker box on your house

I have a 120 and when that happened to it the bridge rectifier was bad on it. Not sure if your 140 has that or not but just something to look into. It only cost me about 8 or 10 bucks to fix mine.

Sounds to me like the Power Controller has gone bad. These are a real tricky, dangerous, things to fix yourself, I recommend that you call the service rep, for Power Mate, and cut your losses.

35 amp should do nicely however make sure the mains cable is of the correct size, better still, get a qualified Electricion to install it.
Usualy 30amp could be used but using 35amp gives you some reserve

Tv went blank, wont come back on.

If those green lights on the board are going dim, then yes it should be repaired. This is likely a bad main filter capacitor on the primary side of the switch mode transformer. Should not cost over $150 at the most. Easy fix

Hobart handler 140 will not feed wire

A schematic would certainly help, give Hobart a call and ask for a wiring diagram. or manual. Hobart are very helpful and may even give you guidance, you may have to pay the postage, they usually fax these documents so it will not cost you anything.
