Dacor sgm304s, Ignitor constantly snapping.

When I just installed the unit after relocating it from one house to the current house installation. The ignitor sparks while the gas knobbs are shut off and only stops when all 4 or 3 specific burners are on (doesn't matter if burner is low or high). As soon as on of the 4 or 3 burners are shut off the snapping ignitor starts again??? Why is this happening!?

I checked that but the white plastic part is OK and the switch itself looks fine. There is no moisture found around these switches. I dont think that it is the stitch. The installation booklet says that it could be a reverse of polarity that might cause this but I checked it and it is OK. It also says that it might be dirty ignitors that is causeing this but I cleaned them and they are fine, but it still keeps clicking.

    What else can it be??????????????

Dacor Epicure. ESG366SCH. 36 Inch Gas Cooktop. How do I access the interior of the cooktop to replace the igniter wire? Model ESG366SCH

Question edited to add maker.
Question moved to correct category.

Dacor only shows the parts layout.

Normally, you remove burners and shrouds and then look for screws at the front that secure the top panel. When you lift that up, the ignitor and wires are visible.

Dacor gas cooktop:boiled over milk & the click click of the starter began even tho eye was on. After cleaning mess I get the click click of the starter & the eye lights but starter doesn't turn off.

Extensively clean the ignitor and any passages that the gas flows through. Take it off and disassemble it if necessary, just get it clean and all will be well!

What causes gas igniter to keep clicking when gas is off

Just solved this on the Kenmore model 911.33389 (same unit). Ignitors started with no one touching the cooktop. It has had a history of doing this and, this time, sparks were visible under the knob. Disassembled cooktop (don't forget to unplug and shut off the gas!). Performed "smell test" for burned electronics. Found smell in #3 ignitor switch. Disassembled and found worn, burned, and fried. Parts list was inside unit but had a typo for the "ignitor switch". Showed WB18T10240. Ordered that only to discover it was the transformer to ignitor wire harness set (no photo on website!). Wrong part... ugh! Dug deeper for the correct part #. It was WB18T10239 but it has been replaced with WB18T10344. Noted on some website that someone installed one and then the ignitor was NOT synchronized. Turns out, you can install WB18T10344 about three different ways. Mine was 22 degrees off vertical (different than original) and now my unit works perfectly! Also, install the new switch harness (if that's what you do) starting from the left front valve then clockwise. The original unit installed from the right front valve, then clockwise. Hope this helps.

Want to adjust the knob to make the flame smaller than @ current setting??

pull of the knob
put a smill flashlight down the selector shaft
you should see a small adjustment screw
probably a tiny flat head
very small turns
start from the lowest setting if you start from the highest you could loose your low flame below the grid
always adjust fromt the lower settings

some of these units are factory set and cannot be adjusted by the consumer,,,,unless you want to install new adjustable gas valvews

Converting LP to NG

The install manual on the dacor web site insists that Natural Gas requires the nozzles be removed, that low pressure NG works with the large 'default size nozzles'. Have done the conversion, in Australia, for my own barbecue, worked ok
Gas is too dangerous to make mistakes with. All I can suggest if Dacor is difficult is take the pdf of the installation instructions, link in the first replies, and the barbecue to a local gasfitter/plumber and ask them to work on it. they will be able to do the calculations from the existing nozzle size, lpg pressure, ng pressure, and required BTU output, to put in correctr nozzles

Dacor Australia are much easier to deal with.

Dacor ignitor keeps clicking

Dacor has updated ignitors with a broad head. Install the new ones and it will very likely cure the problem. You'll need a special spanner wrench to remove the burners. And watch out for the flying keeper clips.
