Question about Kenmore Dryers
Reset the dryer breaker pair in the house electrical panel--push off, then on. If the breakers hold, retry the dryer (no clothes yet). If you now get heat, you are home free. If it tripped the breakers again, then there is a direct short within the dryer, usually the heater element(s). If the breakers hold, but still no heat, check with a voltmeter for ~230 volts AC across the two slanted slots in the power socket. If near zero reading, one of the breakers is bad and should be replaced or a wire connection coming out of one breaker is loose. Have an electrician check and repair this problem. If you read the required voltage, then the problem is inside the dryer. The drum must be removed to access the heating element(s). Either the element or the thermal control switch is open. If everything looks ok in the heater area, then it may be problems in the control area. Hope this helps.
