This could be a heating element as well the fuse are inside the dryer case.there should be two on the element can one on the back wall and on near the blower wheel in front mounted on the plastic.these fuses are round with two wires that come off them check them with an ohm meter they should all have continuity if one of them does not then it is bad you can do this with the element as well make sure to unplug the unit and remove the wires from the fuses as well

Electric lift stopped 2/3 way up. There was also a burning smell. Won't work at all. Is there a manual overide?

Hello;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

There is no manual override on your dryer. Which is a good thing.

You do not want to run your dryer at this point.

The burning smell is burning lint. Your dryer is plugged up with lint. This is a dangerous situation. You could burn down your home.

Your dryer will not run because the dryer fan will shut down if the air flow is obstructed.

You have a hot air exhaust manifold where the hot air goes into a round bottom inlet up to a expanded hot air distribution headed into the dryer. This is usually plugged up.

This may also have caused the fuse to blow, a operating switch or high temperature limit switch to fail.

Go into the following website and put in your model number. You will get diagrams and component part numbers. Your model number is located on a label either on the face of the dryer when you open the door or on the side of the door.

Where does the thermal fuse go?

thermal fuses go because of two reasons air flow
and air flow within time

so ensure good air flow and air speed
through put of air....

thermal fuses go for two reasons they get too hot or they get tired...of getting too hot...

+- 10 deg tolerance so replace it and clean the whole dryer out

and also check out the drum rotates fast....
it takes a good service and some packing of grease into the bearings on the fan motors bearings

Unplug the dryer before installing the thermal fuse. Wear work gloves to protect your hands during this repair.
This Dryer Thermal Fuse part #3399849

This is located in the back of your dryer on your hot air exhaust manifold.

Starts and runs for a few minutes and then just quits?

Hello Larry;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

You have not provided a model number so I do not know if you have an electric or gas dryer. Your model number may be on a label when you open the door.

In general:

1.) Air Flow Problem - Over time lint accumulates in both your hot air distribution manifold as well as you wall air duct. This will shut you down.

2.) Week Ignitor (Gas Dryers) - The ignitor in a gas dryer will glow red. The ignitor can glow red yet not have enough power to open your gas valve.

3.) High Temperature Thermal Switch or Fuse - In both electric and gas dryers you have a high temperature thermal fuse or switch. In either case, when this component is bad and reads any temperature, high or low, it will shut you down.

That is all I can tell you without knowing your dryer model number.

We put a new switch on our lid lock but it didn't fix d problem i

Hello Erikaadams;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

You have not provided a model number. All dryers are different.

There are many components within the dryer that may keep it from running. You may have a fuse blown, but not knowing the model number I do not know it you have a fuse. Bad pressure sensor? The hot air distribution manifold plugged up with lint?

Go into the following link type in your model number and search the diagrams for switches, fuse........

Took off thermal fuse dont know how to put back on dont know which wire is hot have now put on 2 fuses works 5 min then cools back down i think im putting on fuse wrong didnt know it had a certain way to...

A fuse has no directionality as the circuit is AC powered. You must have air flow over the heating elements to prevent overheating. Check the cleanliness of all air passages including the exit hose and exit vent. Wash the lint screen to remove fabric softener deposit which blocks air flow. Hope this helps!

Cut dryer on (Gas model) went to bed. Woke next morning dryer still running but not putting out hot air. Have any idea???

on gas dryers it can only be a few things.....

if u get lil bit of heat and takes along time then its inside your venting.

if no heat at all on a gas dryer, check your thermal fuse or themostats on the backside with a meter for continutiy if it reads sometin its okay if reads nothin it is defective and replace it...

also check the ignitor/glow bar these sometimes burn out, or they have these coils they call em there are 2 of them i think secondary coils is the proper term they are black usually and sold in a pair one has 2 conncections and the other has 3

so either an ignitor,fuse or thermostat, or those coils

No hot air

Check the following to address this issue.

1. No power to the dryer
Make sure there's power getting to the dryer. Check for tripped circuit breakers or blown fuses. An electric dryer uses two circuit breakers or fuses, and if only one of two is tripped or blown, the dryer might still run but not heat. Sometimes the power cord disconnects or burns at the dryer, if this is the case, the wiring and the terminal block must be repaired or replaced.

2. Heating element
A burned out heating element will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Replace the element if found defective.

3. Thermal fuse
Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.
