Joining table columns works,auto_increment ID still blank

Hi I have been updating one table using another table like so:

SELECT msrp
FROM distlist
LEFT JOIN products
ON distlist.msrp=products.ProductMSRP

ive updated a bunch of columns like this and its perfect, the issue i have is that the ProductID which is an auto_increment column is blank. how can i "fill" this in to have the same amount of cells in other columns?

Sum numbers in a column down until you come to a blank, then start again


Sounds like your issue can be solved readily with a pivot table.
If you give the columns of names a title like "NAME" and the number columns a name like "VALUE". All other columns should contain a unique name.

Then select the entire table, including the labels at the top ensuring that the range extends entirely over the column you need to sum the values of.

In Excel 2013, choose the INSERT menu and select the PIVOT TABLE command.
Insert the Pivot table into a new worksheet.
A new sheet will open with a strange-looking control panel on the right of the window.
Make sure that the box for NAME and VALUE (only) are checked

You will notice that Excel assumes that you want the SUM of the values for each NAME summed. The results are in the leftmost area of the worksheet.

Deleting Rows & Columns from the table


You can also remove columns or rows from the table. Once a row or column is deleted, it can be undeleted by using Undo command. You can delete the columns or rows or cells by using one of the following ways.
By Table Menu
To delete a row or column by Table menu, follow these steps.
  • Place the insertion point in the column or row that is to be deleted.
  • Click Table menu and then select "Delete" from Table menu, a submenu of Delete is displayed.
  • Select Columns or Rows or Cells command to delete the selected element (column or row or cell) from the table.
By Popup Menu
To delete a row or column by popup menu, follow these steps.
  • Select the column's you want to delete.
  • Right click the mouse, a popup menu is displayed.
  • Select "Delete Columns" command, the selected columns will be deleted.
OR
  • Place the insertion point in the column or row that is to be deleted.
  • Right click the mouse, a popup menu is displayed.
  • Select "Delete Cells" command, "Delete Cells" dialog box is appeared.
  • Select "Delete entire row" to delete a row or select "Delete entire column" to delete a column etc. from the dialog box and click "Ok" button.

Creating a table in Microsoft Excel 2007 allows you to work with that data independently of the rest of the worksheet. First you must define your table, though, which you can do either from scratch or from data already in the worksheet. The process is a simple one. Read on to learn how to define a table in Excel 2007
  • Start off by doing one of the following: Select the range of cells that you want to make into a table within your worksheet then proceed to Step 2 OR Start immediately with Step 2.

  • Click on the "Insert" tab at the top of the document.

  • Find the "Tables" group, then click on "Table." The "Create Table" dialog box will appear.

  • Type in a range for your table if you did not select a range in Step 1. If you did already select a range then that range will automatically appear in the dialog box.

  • Check the "My Table Has Headers" box if the data set you selected already contains the headers you want to use. If you don't check this box, the table will display default header names, which you can then go in and change.

  • Hit the "OK" button at the bottom of the Create Table dialog box to create your table.

    OK, this should work... First of all, there is one great extension for DW & PHP ADOB object model that is free and great! Download it and install from www.interakt.ro its called PHAKT (NOT impakt, because its not free).

    Install it and you will have another type of PHP ADOB document type.
    Start project with PHP ADOB (not old PHP MYSQL).

    Page 1

    Create form that has come Editbox and one button. Name Edit box something like e.g. "Search" without quotes.
    That form should have form action="results.php" and type set to POST NOT, Create Page 2 and name it results.php.
    Create new recordset in dw like this
    SELECT "
    FROM table WHERE table.column.you.r.searching LIKE '%colname%' OR table.other.column LIKE '%colname%' ORDER BY table.tableid this means that we want to select ALL (*) records in table WHERE content of column is similar (Dav, will return Dave, David, Davidof...) to search keyword.
    Next, in variables click + and add variable name colname default value set to % if you want to show all records if form is submited blank, or -1 if You want to show none if form is submited blank. Finaly for Run-time value type $HTTP_POST_VARS['search'] Runtime value is equal name of Edit box name you set up in first page...
    Now, from bindings tab, select values and insert it on page, that You would like to show on page. Ill skip this part assuming You know how to format output and how to limit it but if you dont know ask in reply...
    So now You have page with results. Test it and see if its working.
    If it is, create page 3 and name it details.php. Now, select value from page that you want to link with details page and click on link. Select details.php page and click on parameters. For param name enter something like id since this should be PK in table and unique value, and for value click on lightning icon, and select primary key in your table. In live page link should be like details.php?id=<some_value>.
    As for details page recordset it should look like
    SELECT *
    FROM table
    WHERE table.id = 'colname'
    create vars as for page 2, but change Runtime to $HTTP_GET_VARS['id']
    and format output on page. That should be it, but since im typing it in "realtime" maby i forgot something...

    Getting the highest value in a column less than some other value


    This is good really for SQL Server, Oracle, or anything that can handle SQL.

    Most hacks know about MAX(), as in:

    SELECT MAX(col_name) FROM table

    So if the column has a max value in it of 10, you get 10 back. But what if you want the highest value in the column that is less than a certain amt.? This for example is good for getting back the next most recent record when col_name is an incrementing key column and you want to exclude the most recent record (ID'd by it having the current maximum value key) in the column. Now you are faced with writing an SP or egad, traversing a recordset client-side. Ugh.

    Here's the fix:

    SELECT MAX(col_name) FROM table WHERE col_name < {some_value}

    This works. It works even when the key column is not guaranteed to have continuous sequential values, such as when records are added and deleted over time and the key values assigned all stay the same (which is what happens in 99.9999999+% of all cases).

    Homework: Haven't tried it but I am betting you can also do this:

    SELECT MAX(col_name) FROM table WHERE col_name < MAX(col_name)

    Whoa... well, try it and see if it works. Some SQL interpreters don't like aggregation/sub-computational functions on the right side of the comparator. In that case, you'd get MAX(col_name) first with a simple SELECT stmt., assign it to a variable, then use that variable as the right hand side modifier for the '<' comparitor.

    Seems simple, right? But oh, the pain these kinds of situations cause. Hope this helps some of y'alls.

    To create a table in Microsoft Word please do the following:

    1. Go to the Table menu and select 'Insert Table'. The Insert Table window will open.
    2. Select the number of rows and columns you want in your table.
    3. Select the column width (up to 22 inches) or choose 'Auto' to have the column with adjust automatically, making the table extend across the width of the page.
    4. Select the AutoFormat button to select one of Word's pre-formatted table styles. The Table AutoFormat window opens.
    5. Click one of the styles in the Formats box in the upper left side of the window.
    6. Preview each format, after selecting it, in the Preview box in the upper right side of window.
    7. To customize a pre-selected format, select or de-select the borders, shading, font, color, heading rows, first column, last row and last column boxes.
    8. Select AutoFit, and Word will automatically fit the table to your page.
    (To manually change the width of a table or column after you have created it, use the mouse to place the pointer over the vertical line you want to move. When the pointer turns into a double-headed arrow, drag the line to the position you want it in the table.)'

    Table issue


    You will have to assign an onclick function to each of those 5 column headers. There is no way to group those into another element.

    Another option is that you can assign an ID to each of those TDs and create a javascript funtion that will loop through those IDs and assign the onclick function dynamically.

    Budgets in excel


    Dear Madiha35,

     

    I would recommend the use of the Table Function in Excel.

     

    Here are the steps in Excel 2007, if this does not work for your version please add comment for me to reply to.

    Excel 2007 had a budget format workbook

    New workbook, Select Budgets in the last hand navigation, Select Personal Budget.

     

    Step 1:  Enter your data into the worksheet.

     

    Step 2:  Create Table

                 Highlight the relevant data

                 On the insert tab, click on Table

                 

    Step 3:  Verify Table range is correct, Click OK

     

    Step 4:  Select the cell you where you wish to Sum Data.

             Click on Autosum.

     

    Step 5:  To Insert new data

             Click on the sum row in the table, (Not the entire worksheet row)

             Right click, Insert, Insert Table rows from above

     

    Step 6:  Enter new data in row

     

    Step 7:  Data is automatically calculated in formula.
