Impeller is at the bottom in the housing. it may take a few mins for the water to come out of the tell tale hole. Ensure that your muffs are on properly and wait for a bit. Also insure that the hole is not plugged.

Water to come out my outboard engine I have a 1988 Yamaha 15 horse two-stroke new impeller new thermostat but when running no water comes out of the back the whole

Hi Hunter.
The small hole the water comes out of sometimes gets blocked
try a small wire to clear anything that might be blocking it?
failing that have a look inside the cowl to make sure the hose that goes to it is plugged on.
good luck.....

I have a YAMAHA 225 FOUR STROKE OUTBOARD. WATER PUMPS OUT TELLTALE WHEN ENGINE IS RUNNING, BUT WHEN CONNECTED TO A HOSE FOR FLUSH OUT NO WATER COMES OUT THE TELLTALE.

If you telltale operates under normal conditions, I take it you have the tap on, muffs over the inlet
and engine running, have you checked the muffs are on the correct way round, is water passing through the inlet vanes, is it passing through the hose pipe? If you have checked these and all is good, and still no tell tale then run the engine in a drum filled with water. If still nothing or the telltale is weak then your impeller is on the way out.

How do i replace the water pump in a 2005 150 hp evinrude outboard motor

Take the cowling off. Also drop the foot. There wil be a stainless linkage rod that runs the length of the motor that you will have undo to drop the foot. The water impeller will be inside a stainless casing that you will have to disassemble.

Just bought a used boat, 1966 sportscraft with an evinrude 2 stroke motor, don't know how to test the motor without going into the water. don't know much about boats

Hi. If you just want to run the motor then you can do it in you driveway. Go to a sports store with boating equipment and ask for "Muffs" to run your boat motor out of water. You can see a pictures of outboard motor muffs on google images:

http://www.google.com/images?hl=en&source=imghp&q=muffs+for+outboard&gbv=2&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=

Take the muffs and place them over the water intakes located above the propeller (look like vents on each side). Hook a garden hose up the muffs and start water flow. Make sure nothing is near the propeller. Make sure to pump the bulb in the fuel line to the motor until it stiffens. Crank the motor. When the motor starts, you should see water start to flow out of the back of the motor near the cover and out of the center of the propeller with the exhaust. You must keep water flow to the motor using the muffs while it is running or it will burn up.

Outboard motor overheating

Mate. The powerhead(engine block) is clogged.Don,t run it anymore untill its cleaned out or the motor will cook.Take the heads off 1st and see whats in the water jackets. It will probably be blocked.A build up of white 'gunk' is the main indicator. If thats the case,a complete cleanout is needed.Hope this helps
