Question about GE JE1460 Microwave Oven

Wire Diagram Have a GE JES831WB002 and the turntable motor went out. Bought a replacement, no big deal, but I can't remember which way the wire harness plugs in. The motor is 21V/AC and the harness is (1) orange wire on one side and (1) orange wire and (1) white wire on the other. Thanks in advance for the help!

If the plug is not keyed and you cant tell from the wires, it probably doesn't make a difference. You are telling me it is 21 VAC ... AC dont care - and you dont appear to have a common ground situation.

Plugs and sockets are usually 'keyed' so that they can't be inserted backwards. If wires go out of the motor side, the colors usually continue through. Hope this helps.

Turn table stopped turning

It sounds like the turntable motor has failed. It is a synchronus motor with a plastic gearbox reducing the RPM to about 5. The gears fail when the turntable dish is turned as the motor stalls the shafts.
Replacing the motor is no big deal.
There is usually an inspection cover that can be removed on the underside of the cavity.
Remove the cover and remove the motor.
Replace with the same type and the reverse procedure will fix it.
You may however require a self tapping screw to affix the cover back on. A bit of a puzzle but not too difficult to work out!
Hope this helps.

Microwave makes noise when turning only in one direction

It sounds like the turntable motor is failing or the turntable requires its wheels cleaning. If it is the motor, it is a synchronus motor with a plastic gearbox reducing the RPM to about 5. The gears fail when the turntable dish is turned as the motor stalls the shafts.

My turntable will not rotate. I've checked the piece underneath and it appears to on correctly.

it could be be bad turntable motor.to chk this open up the bottom plate by removing the screws around it.then disconnect the wire connector from the motor.start the unit and chk the voltage with multimeter.if u read voltage then motor needs to be replaced.make sure turntable function is on and not off at the control.if there is no power at the connector then it could be control.chk for any loose wires etc.

Microwave turntable motor or belt?

I assume you don't have an illustrated parts list try and Google one up using make and model number etc. It is also a good guide on what needt to be removed and in what sequence.

As far as the novice part, the turntable is a basket case now what can you hurt, this is how we all learned, try to fix it if you cant then call someone who can, not a big deal.

Question re: installation of turntable motor

If its an AC motor, the wiring will not matter. Look at the numbers on the motor. You will see a voltage rating, RPM rating and if you see the text "50/60 Hz" it is an AC motor and the wiring will not matter.

If its a DC motor, you will see a voltage rating, RPM rating and a + & - for the wiring. If you reverse the wiring, the turntable will turn in the opposite direction.

I'm not sure about all microwave ovens, but the ones I have worked on, the turntable turns in the clockwise direction.

Most likely, its an AC motor. Look for the "50/60" text. If its an AC motor, the wiring will not matter.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance to you,

Good luck!
