Question about Sony KDF-E42A10 42 in. LCD Television
Sony KDF-E42A10 rear projection TV. My daughter states she was watching it and it suddenly turned off (no picture or sound). I've tried the Sony recommended restart procedure as well as unplugging from the surge protector and directly into the wall. Its current syptoms are the standby light repeatedly flashing for about a minute, followed by the lamp light flashing until I turn off power. Original lamp, TV is about 5 years old.
Red light blinks 6 times. No picture or sound.

Start by changing the lamp. If you got 5 years out of the old one, count your blessings, most folks only get three. The lamp is designed to be replaced by the consumer. Ebay will carry a replacement for you or you can get it directly from rivervalleyelectronics.net. They've got good prices. The lamp door is on the back. Its really easy, give it a shot.
