Dust goes to filter

is the canister sealing properly? The air enters the canister under high pressure and it should slow down greatly in there so the heavier (dust) particles will fall to the bottom of the canister and the air should then pass through the filter under a reduced pressure. If the air is easily escaping the canister area without slowing down the dust cannot settle. It should look like a cyclone in the canister, if it's not swirling in one direction but rather bouncing around, look at the inlet to the canister for build up or an obstruction also. If the canister is not sealing the the air will remain moving rapidly and carry the dust along with it. I would also check your filter for a tare along the seam.

I have a bagless cyclonic vacuum but filter in cylinder is not spinning

The filter doesn't spin The air creates a vortex as it is drawn through to the motor and this action is what spins the dirt out of the air. It is the sudden change of direction that does the trick

How to install the back hepa filter on canister vacuum cleaner. We are not sure which direction the air flows and therefore which way the arrows should point. Should the arrows point into the vacuum...

The arrows in this case should point out of the machine. not into the machine. This is because you want the black rubber seal to seal on the machine and force the air through the filter.

Good luck.

My vax rapide has lost suction unless you press down on the front. It worked fine the first few times I used it but now it leaves the carpet soaking!

I fixed mine by taking the spongey filter out and washing it through. Then, important step, dry it with a hairdryer and test the direction of air flow by putting the dryer up close to it and feeling if it comes out the bottom. For me, only one way worked, and I put it back that way into the head, and hey presto, full suction back again! Thank goodness.

Suction Problem

There is a stand pipe seal where the bucket sits on, and if it isn't there or out of place could cause a suction problem like you said yours is doing. In the picture it is #10. The motor seal may have gone bad and is leaking # 15.
