Ran the Tshibery disk recovery disk. Completed and

Ran the Toshiba disk recovery disk. Completed and said to remove media and press ctrl + alt + delete. Re-booted and windows xp screen appears followed by a blue screen saying Windows is starting. Next is Windows start screen again saying 'Please Wait'. Waited fr 2 hours and nothing happened. Starting in safe mode eventually says installation incomplete. Re-install. Don't have full install disks.

Eventually solved the problem. The machine date was set to nn Sept 2061. The recovery says it is formatting the disk, but only does the quick format. When the process tries to copy the files back onto the system it can't overwrite as the date is greater than the current. Set date back to Sept 2009 and all worked fine. Thanks for your advice.

Complete the recovery again but leave the discs in the computer. That way if the computer needs some files while rebooting it will take them off the cd....if not it will load and that will be the end of that. Just remember when you boot the computer for the first time to initiate the recovery, when it says to boot from cd touch any key...that is only done one time when you first initiate the recovery...after that do not touch any key if it says that...just let windows boot on it own. Once windows boots on its own, then you can take the recovery disc out and put it away.

I can't log onto windows on my toshiba 3005-S304 system unit forgot password

What OS are you having?

Here are the solutions to reset windows password on different systems:

On XP you can try this:
Boot computer and press Ctrl+Alt+Delete twice when you See Windows welcome screen / login screen. It'll show classic login box. Now type "Administrator" (without quotes) in username field and leave password field blank, press Enter and you should be able to login Windows.
Now you can reset your account password from "Control Panel -> User Accounts".

On Win 7 or Vista:
Ctrl+Alt+Delete won't work, you have to use some windows password recovery software. I recommend Windows Password Recovery Tool

I start up my computer and i get a black screen that says "NTLDR is missing Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart" at the startup screen pressing f10 doesn't bring up system recovery and I don't have...

what is the model of your computer,? if the recovery software is in a hidden partition there must be a way to access it from boot, otherwise, you will have to buy a windows disk and reinstall windows.

How to format toshipa satellite L200 laptop

All new Toshiba laptops ship from the factory with the ability to run the system recovery process from a hard disk partition, and with preinstalled software that can be used to record recovery media to blank discs. Toshiba recommends creating recovery media to ensure the ability to run a system recovery even if the hard disk recovery partition is damaged or deleted, or if the hard disk breaks. Reconditioned laptops may not include this recovery enabling software so may require that recovery media be purchased.

Recovery media can be ordered online. Click here to begin the order process. There is no charge for the software itself, for which customers already own licenses, and as of 10/1/10 the shipping and handling charges for delivery of recovery media in the US is $24.95 for DVD media or $34.95 for USB sticks.

Won't boot up. Get a message early on in the process that says the following file is corrupt or missing: Windows\system32\config\system Recovery disk won't boot either

Hello,

This problem usually occurs due to an ungraceful shutdown, ie battery died before the laptop completed it's shutdown procedures or due to a failing hard drive.

Try booting the laptop and pressing F8 repeatedly. When the black and white screen pops up you can try booting into safemode/Command prompt. If you get in to the Comand prompt, type, CHKDSK /F then restart the computer by pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del all three at once.

When it restarts it should go into disk checking mode, let it run and if it's only minor damage this should solve the problem, if that doesn't work, put your windows recovery disk into the DVD drive and boot the laptop, when it starts asking you questions try running the REPAIR install and this may solve the problem.

If neither of the above work you may need to recover the laptop to factory settings(same disks) but should backup any important files you have saved first. If you do not know how to do that already I would advise seeking a pro for at least that portion as it is easy to accidentally wipe out all of your files.

Hope this helps FixYa,

Chris

You most likely have a faulty hard drive, especially if it is making a clicking sound.
You wil need to purchase a new hard drive and install Windows again with the Toshiba Recovery CD.
