Your thermal cutout on the side of the magnetron is defective, sounds like the mag is getting very hot,and taking a long time to cool so thermal can reset

Not enough venting. Imagine putting your hair dryer on full and putting it that cabinet. Would your venting keep it cool? Your microwave oven uses about the same current

Sounds like the electronics overheated. You'd have to pull it and examine the insides to see what has gone bad. It could be pretty much anything.

Hope there was no injury or damage, but this is what they'd call a "user issue".

Your owner's manual warns you about some items that by their very nature can overheat and catch fire, one of which is a potato.

That's why the manual also wants you never to leave a microwave oven running unattended.

If for some reason you don't have yours, you can download GE owner's manuals and installation instructions here.

The microwave shuts off after 10 minutes and takes 30 minutes to come back on. Help!!!

It indicates the magnetron is getting to hot "that heats the food" when that happens the thermal fuse opens to protect the magnetron from over heating and shuts it down and waits until it is cooler before it resets. The other problem could be the fan not working or not properly that blows on the magnetron, it helps keeps the temperature regulated so it can run hard. If it turns out the fan is fine, then the magnetron is slowly breaking down until it becomes unusable, which means it will need to be replaced "pricey" or buy new "probably cheaper"

Microwave runs about 3 to 4 minutes and shuts off like no power to unit but the breaker is not tripped and not hot, then the unit comes back on after about 15 minutes. ???

It sounds like the magnetron is not working properly and the temperature sensor is expecting temperature rise, it is not getting any and shuts down.
Hope that expalins it for you.

Assuming the entire power line from the breaker to the microwave cord is okay, it's almost certainly a bad connection on the circuit board of the control panel assembly. For reference, we repair these from all over the country for $32.50 postpaid.
