In AUTO mode, pictures are all dark!

Daughter has played with settings on camera and now every picture in auto mode is dark (even with flash).  Is there a way to "reset" camera to factory settings to see is settings problem?

Re: In AUTO mode, pictures are all dark!

Yes you definitely can,

Turn on the camera.

The mode dial can be turned to any setting.

2. Press the button for longer than 5
The message “Reset settings to default?” appears on the
LCD monitor.

3. Select [OK] using the left and right
buttons, then press the button.
The normal screen resumes when resetting is complete.
To cancel resetting, select [Cancel] instead of [OK].

Very dark video output and view through the view screen, no matter where the ISO dial is set. The Auto, C1 and C2 mode for Photos is just as dark. I can take good pictures only in P (Program) mode, al

This is most often a problem with the imaging sensor and no reset is going to repair the part. Also, if replacing it, it needs to be properly calibrated after installed. If you need help with this, this is the place we recommend for the Canons: They are the best for these models, they only work on Canons and they are excellent for repairs. They have a service package for about $90 which takes care of an image problem as you have or you can try emailing them first. As far as service and the quality of work, I wouldn't go anywhere else but them for a Powershot. They are the best for these cameras. Good luck
