Sir, To solve this problem, you must open the compressor area at the back bottom of the refrigerator and chek the temperature of the pressure line. If the temperature is between 55celcius to 60 than its ok. Or else you need to change the refrigerant. I suggest you to contact the service authority.

Thanks for contacting Fixya.

My freeser is working other side is not cooling the top vent getting air but not underneath

You need to thaw the ice which has clogged the passageway from the freezer to the refrigerator. To do this, you can turn off the whole unit for several hours and let everything thaw, or you can remove the panels and locate the vent(s). Melt the ice with a hair dryer, then reassemble the panels and restart the refrigerator. There is a small chance that the fan in the freezer has frozen up as well. When the refrigerator compressor runs, you should also hear a small fan in the freezer run. If not, you will need to do some investigating to find out why.

Refrigerator is not cold

Hi Louis,

This is what has happened. Due to the door being opened for so long moisture which is naturally in the air has collected on your freezer coils. What you need to do is turn the whole thing off for at least 24 hours. Open the doors and put some towels around it to let the frost melt out.
All the air that gets cooled in your unit gets cooled by a fan that pulls air through those coils. Once the frost has melted out of them it should cool just fine.

I have a beverage air kegerator that seems to work fine, but the evaporator fan runs constantly. Is it supposed to run constantly, or is it supposed to cycle on and off with the compressor, etc.?

Most evaporator fans run all the time. This is mainly to use the air flow to assist in melting off any frost build up during the compressor off cycle. If that fan shut off with the compressor the coil will have a tendency to freeze up. :)

Model number ARB2217CW Amana Refrigerator Bottom Freezer. The freezer is working fine but the fridge has stopped cooling. No strange noises, no frost, no water leaking--just not cooling at all.

I would check the circulating fan. This problem is very hard to diagnose because the fan spins but not fast enough to circulate the chilled air thru the freezer and the frig.

Fan underneath frig is running but no cold air is coming into the frig or freezer

The fan that is under the frig is the condensor fan(the fan the cools the condenser coils and the compressor. It does not have a direct effect on the chilled air circulation inside of the frig. The evaporator fan is the unit that circulates the chilled air thru your freezer and frig. I am not sure what make model unit you have, but I have found that this fan motor is 90% of the circulation problems i have seen.

Freezer works fine, refrigerator only cools to 58 degrees on coolest setting!

replace the evaporator fan, this fan problem is hard to diagnose because the fan will spin but not fast enough to circulate the chilled air thru the freezer and the refrigerator. The minimum cost to repair/replace is around $300.00

Top refrigerator not cooling--freezer icy

This has happened in my GE side-by-side (model GSS20IEMDWW). For me, the problem was caused by a faulty temp sensor in the fresh food side. That sensor never signalled the computer that the temp in the fresh food side was cool enough, so the compressor ran constantly.

Since the compressor was running constantly, the evaporator coils (back wall of the freezer compartment) eventually iced over (took about a week). Since the fan that draws air over the evaporator coils could no longer move any air (due to the icing), the temperature in the fresh food side continued to climb. (The fresh food side is chilled through a hole with a motorized door at the top of the dividing wall, so if no air is moving in the freezer compartment, temps in the fresh food compartment climb.)

I replaced the temp sensor in the fresh food side and solved the problem for a while. About six months later I had the same problem again, so I replaced both temp sensors in the freezer compartment - which solved the problem again. (My fridge is about seven years old.)

If you are going to replace any of the temp sensors, replace them all under the principle of "if one failed, the rest will soon fail too".

Refrigerator stopped working, freezer works fine

Sounds like the evap fan is not running. The fan takes cold air from the freezer to cool the refer compartment. If the freezer is cold the compressor is running. Generally the freezer will stay cold since the cooling coils are there but it must have the fan working to get the air up to the refer area. Pull everything out the freezer and take the back panel off to view the coils and fan, etc. It's a simple easy job to change the fan. If you find the coils are a total block of ice then it's another problem... the defrost cycle isn't working. Sooo... see if the fan is running in the freezer compartment first. See http://www.partselect.com/Schematics/Maytag/AA43-57.gif for fan location, item 18 is the fan motor. Let us know what you find out.

Bottom Freezer working but not side!

Typically the freezer air is circulated into the frige area to provide cooling. If the circ. fan is not working or the air ducts/channels/dampers are blocked with ice, food, etc. then no cool air will get from the freezer to the frige area. Check all the air channels and to see if the dampers are open along with the circulation fan running. The diagrams at the following link should help you see inside better. If your lower circulation fan is running then you likely have an air return/supply channel blocked with ice and will require an old style defrost (unplug unit and leave doors open for 24 hours to melt ice, etc.). If the fan isn't running then that needs to be replaced. Air channels can freeze up if a door is left open slightly overnight or other moisture enters the freezer/frige. http://www.partselect.com/MultiModels.aspx?ModelNum=ER6AHKXPQ&searchTerm=&RefineSearch=0
