Is your battery up to the task? fully charged? Ignition switch is in good condition? Are you properly lined up with the fly wheel? Have the correct gear on your starter?

Just a few things I would check up front.

Will the starter run if you take it off and put it on the floor? (Remember, you need two wires to make it run off the mower.)

2003 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD wouldnt start acted like starter just clicking. Jump started off cylinoid now all lights are on brake abs check engine service 4wd. Also won't change gears or go into 4wd.

Clicking at the starter is usually caused by a weak battery or cables . Why didn't you jump at the battery ? Did you hook it up right , positive to positive ? You messed something up ! Better take it to the dealer !

How to check lock-out switchs on riding lawnmower

try jumping it with your car/battery. If that doesnt work, try jumping directly to the starter. If that works, it would be your starter solenoid.

Doesn't turn over or start

Five most likely causes 1. dead battery 2. faulty starter cylinoid 3. faulty ignition switch 4.loose connection at any of the points5 faulty starter relay. the battery can be removed and taken to most any parts store and checked. likewise with the starter/cylinoid. checking for loose or bad connections is pretty self explanatory. move from connection to connection and check for loose connections or corrosion. once you know your battery and starter are in working order (you should only be into this project for your time at this point) you can check your ignition switch and starter relays with a voltmeter and/or test light to identify where the current is stopping. hope this helps good luck!

MY RIDING LAWNMOWER STARTER JUST CLICKS.I BOUGHT A NEW STARTER AND IT DOES THE SAME THING.

didnt specify type of rider but can b 1 of a few different problems-the clicking is the relay to the starter-- 1st check that motor turns if motor bound or seized starter wont turn it over -check that starter gear and flywheel mesh correctly if not might have to shim or adjust ,next check battery {full charge}and connections ,wiring ,and the fuses for corrosion and or damage.check the safety switches next the seat ,brake, and blade on, these switches will not let motor start if damaged ,activated,or bad wire.

2009 sportster relay switch clicking

Check your battery connections and make sure they are tight where the positive cable attatches to the starter and the negative cable attatches to ground. Sportsters are notorius for this type of problem when the cables are loose.

clicking in the fusebox? And the starter could be because you need a new one. or a rebuilt. The clicking is your starter cylinoid.

Ride on lawnmower isnt starting.

You may have a bad starter - the solinoid is "clicking" but not engaging. Remove the starter and clean it up and connect it to 12 volts to check if can turn. If not then buy a new starter and replace it out.
