You need to reset it, just hold down the middle button and the "menu" button for about 7-8 seconds, or until the apple logo appears.

Try switching the hold switch on the top of your ipod a couple times, next make sure that the hold switch isnt on then press and hold the menu and center buttons until the ipod restarts
