None of these are good signs. My suggestion is you replace the fan.

I am presuming in this case that the fan is supplied by proper size wire and is not being controlled by a dimmer switch on the wall. I also am presuming the box to which it is mounted is a FAN box, not just a standard 4 inch light box.

You probably have some overheating issues in the motor.

You may want to call a pro for this.

Hunter 52, fan works but light no longer works with remote or chain pull

mcdevito75 here, Don"t the fan lights work off the wall switch, The chain pull should be for fan speed. Check make sure electricity is going to the fan.

Our hunter fan won't work on high speed any longer, low and medium speed work fine, when clicked on high - it only goes at medium

Sounds like the variable speed switch may be worn out.
You should be able to purchase replacement switch at the local home depot- type store in the electrical supplies.
Trying to get an exact match to replace may be a bit difficult, but a similar 3 speed switch should work just fine.

I have a ceiling fan that has no reverse switch or speed chain, it was bought used...the fan obiviously can work only from a remote....i'm always going to use the fan in the counterclockwise position on...

You're going to have to have the remote control for it. Call Hunter at 1-901-745-9222 when the recording comes on, press 8, then 1, then 1 2 or 3. Give them your model # and they will get you hooked up with a remote. They may even give it to you for free, but they may make you pay for it.

My Hunter fan will only switch from high to low speed and won't

if the three speed switch is functioning the middle speed winding is bad.  Either replace the fan or hook up a wall speed control and keep the fan on high.

3-speed switch replaced with hampton bay switch. Only low speed works.

The cause to the problem was replacing a HUNTER fan switch with a Hampton Bay switch. Before removing the old switch, I noted and marked the color and position of the 4 wires. I then duplicated the connections to the new switch.

But the wire positions of Hampton Bay vs Hunter are not identical, therefore 2 wires
were crossed.

The correct way is to note the color of the wires with the corresponding NUMBER
marked on the switches, then duplicate this on the new one.

Du-uh!

Our handyman installed our Hunter Douglas Westside fan yesterday, and there is still a strong electrical burn smell everytime it's on. Should I be concerned? Thank you!

If you are controlling the fan speed with a wall type dimmer switch, the mechanical pull chain switch must be in the high speed position ONLY. If the pull chain switch is in the med or low position and you are using a dimmer type wall switch to control the speed you are burning the motor up. If this does not apply to your situation then it is possible that the fan is defective or maybe some packing material inadvertantly got inside the fan
