Re: Pip will not turn off can not reset

This worked for us...

The pip just showed up on its own. When we went to the pip setting with the remote, it told us that pip was "unavailable," but there it was!

We tried unplugging the TV to let it reset, but that didn't work. Then we found that the pip disappeared when we turned on the Blu-ray, so we figured that the problem wasn't in the TV, but rather with the cable.

So we unplugged the cable box and let it reset itself. Ta-da!!! It worked.

(We have had several weird problems since we got the new high defe cable box. Unplugging and letting it reset on its own has worked with each problem so far.)

Hopethis helps.

Re: Pip will not turn off can not reset

Either the micro is failing or the eeprom has become corrupted.. You can try unplugging the set for 15 minutes - not less - and allow the eeprom itself and see if that cures the problem. If not the micro has failed and it's best to take it in because usually something else probably caused the failure (cap, diode open resistor, etc.) and the tech will have to trace test to find out what..
Good Luck!

Pip won't turn off. can the pip be removed or bypassed?

Some of the older sets with PIP require only the original remote to operate or turn on and off.

The PIP board usually develops problems with surface mounted caps and there is a "modification" where traces are cut and two 4.7 mfd caps inserted which will bypass the PIP board from the set--a model number would tell me if this is possible in your set or not--you missing the original remote? Almost any Mitsubishi remote of the era with PIP controls should do the job.

Turn it off manually (unplug the power cable), it should reset itself after several minutes (10-20).

I have a universal remote for my Panasonic PT-50LC13 and I need to reset the lamp hours. Can anyone help?

I too had a problem resetting my lamp time of my PT-50Lc13. My remote that came with the set lacked a PIP and SPLIT keys, charter remote (that was obviously configured for my set via codes) has a PIP ability that we discovered some time ago. Instead of using the STANDARD remote, you can use a UNIVERSAL that has a PIP capability....has to be set up to work with your set can hold down the VOL - key and the UNIVERSAL remotes PIP key for about 5 seconds and then you will receive a message stating that the lamp time was reset to 0.

I know this helps someone out there, and your welcome!

How to reset the meter of lamp

You need to have your Panasonic remote.
1. Make sure the power cord is plugged into a properly grounded outlet and turn on the set with the power button on the projection unit or the remote control.

2. While holding down the (VOL -) key on the projection unit press the PIP or SPLIT key at the same time. Hold it for longer than 5 Seconds. The PIP or SPLIT key is model specific:

PIP for Models:

SPLIT for Models:

3. When the unit resets the lamp timer it will display a screen on the TV indicating it was reset to zero. You press recall on the remote to exit.

You will find a PDF of the instructions at this site:

Lamp reset

This also works for the Panasonic PT-61LCX65. You hold the volume button down on the projection display, then hold down the Split/ DVD button on the remote control at the same time. I just did it after reading the advice posted. Thank you!
