If you have another pc handy (with installed virus protection), I would remove the hard drive and install it in that machine as a secondary hard drive (probably need to change jumper on hard drive to slave if on same ribbon cable as primary drive), boot up into windows, run a virus scan on the newly installed drive to remove any viruses or malware. Then, remove the drive and install back in original pc. Boot up and push F8 to bring up boot menu. Choose "Last known Configuration that worked" or "Last known Good Configuration" (can't remember exact wording) and see if that allows you back into Windows. If so, install good anti-virus, do full scan and back up anything you want saved just in case.

Your sister has a vivid imagination. Changing the memory and flashing the BIOS will chane nothing.

If you want to start from scrath then reformat the hard drive and reinstall the system but as you probably don't have a system backup disc this will prove impossible for you.

Your best bet is take it to your local PC shop (I don't mean the mainstream ones) and they will be able to restore your system.

You've learned a valuble lesson the hard way here. Always have a good antivirus programme installed, make sure it is up to date and do a full scan on a regular basis.

Enter the Bios and under System Components find the Boot priority in the Bios and move the drive to the top of the list, also you can press F12 at Start up to select it as well. :)

Dell desktop won't boot up get blue screen and beep when I turn it on

overheating most likely. If you can, open computer up and make certain bios and cpu heatsinks (aluminum R2D2 looking things often with fans on top) are firmly seated on board with maufacture latches. Also see that teh fans are all working, could be a non-operating fan.

My computer caught a virus

Yes this is an unfortunate virus that has attacked your system at this time. you can clear all partitions and reinstall the entire operating system. this will bring back the OS but, you will lose all info that was stored in the partitioned drives. You can do this by inserting the xp or vista disk then, restart the system and before the dell bios flash gos away, hit f4 then, choose boot disk. this will start the reinstallation of the OS again.
