The capacitors in the samsung 4661 are inferior, this happens to all the ones in this line.

If you are feeling handy and don't want to replace your circuit board, here's what you can do.
Remove the 30 screws on the back of the tv. and the plastic shell will lift off.
There are two boxes, a large almost square one to the left (thats the power board, with the bulging capacitors) and a slightly smaller one to the right. (thats the cpu and circuit board)
You only care about the power board for now.

Remove the 6 or 7 screws from the metal casing on the left.
To unplug the connectors, either press your fingers at the sides of the connectors and gently lift them off, or pinch them from the small tab in front, and lift them gently off.
Remove the metal casing.
Unscrew the 5 or 6 screws holding down the power board and lift off the power board and take it to any monitor repair shop and ask them to replace your capacitors on this board, with more powerful ones. (usually 16v instead of the low 10v that come with it)
Just tell them its the samsung LNT-4661F and they will know the problem as most people who own this TV have called them.
Or they can google samsung 4661 capacitor kit, to see what capacitors they want to install.

Hope that helps someone, as I had to do it.
But it saved for $400.

Great news. I have to give massive props to the store that helped.
I did my advice to a 'T', took the power board to in Richmond, B.C. Canada, they replaced 6 capacitors, all with bigger stronger ones, and brought it home, put it together, and it feels like a BRAND NEW TV. No dots, no lines, no problem clicking on and off, picture is clearer than ever. All for (and this is the best part) $40.00 CDN
These guys are amazing. in richmond, use them.

Called Samsung today 11-4-10 if you have one of five symptoms they will send a tech out to change the capacitors free of charge, if it doesn't work your on your own.

Which is great if you are in the U.S. and your T.V. goes on the fritz within the 12 month warranty, otherwise your out of luck.

Just get off the line with samsung support they are going to send someone out. The tv was 8 months past warranty.

As of 3/28/11 Samsung is still offering to replace capacitors if your set was manufactured during a certain time period. Just give them your serial number and model number

In most cases it is the capacitors in he power supply section that have gone out.

Common symtoms are
-shuts down
-takes a long time to come on
-relay clicks
-dead set

You can get capacitors online or you can get a complete kit with instructions and support from . Its a failry easy DIY fix.

Samsung LN-S4051D 40 in. LCD Television will not turn on

Are the red lights still flashing after replacing the caps? Bulging caps usually means the caps are at the end of their life span, but shorted caps may look just fine. Check any caps that you did not replace to see if they are shorted. I bet you still have a bad cap somewhere on the power supply that is shorted.

This is the capicator $1.50. You have to take off the back, sauter off the capicator (you'll see it because it is poking out) and sauter on the new one. I found the fix on this web-site.

Green Pixel or dots issue on Samsung LN-4051D

That's a flaw in the driver/timing circuits, but it could also be something simple like a ruptured ribbon cable or poor connection during manufacturing. Simple or not either way the driver/timing circuits need to be serviced by a professional technician.
