Question about Dell Computers & Internet

Open Question

Im trying to run Line 6 guitar port on a Dell 910 but it coughs and pops from time to time and the rest of the time it sounds rough i tried dpclat latency checker and it says the drivers are''bad'' I've switched off etherport and WLAN and disabled bluetooth Even playing an mp3 file from the onboard SD card turns all the green to yellow and red on the dpclat I have a big old fragile Esystem 3087 which runs Guitar Port and Guitar Rig 3 - like the 910 its 1.6GHz cpu 1.2(2)GB RAM xp home SP3 so why wont the Dell do likewise? The 910 is great as a netbook but why cant it handle audio? Ive downloaded all the latest drivers from Dell I run Gamebooster which switches all the background things off What if i remove everything but the OS and Guitarport - will that do it?? Help!!!

SOURCE: Recording Issues In Vista

Microsoft moved the particular option that you need to enable since Windows XP, and have also changed its default to MUTE.

To hear what is playing through MIC IN...

  • Go to Control Panel and select "Sound"
  • Under the "Playback" tab, double click on your enabled speakers.
  • Select the "levels" tab, and look for "Mic In Volume".
  • Click once on the speaker icon that is muted to un-mute it.
I really hope that this has solved your problem, if it has not, please let me know and I will do my best to help you further. Good Luck!

SOURCE: problem installing sound driver on emachine M2352

I had the same problem after doing an OS reinstall. The owner didn't have her recovery CD and the emachine website audio driver was no good. I was thinking it may of been a hardware issue but after checking all of the cables and finding nothing obvious and then finding others online who had the same problem it all pointed to the driver.

Use the audio driver from there and you should be good to go.

If you replaced the plugs, did you replace the intake manifold gaskets if not, then replace them. They must be replaced every time the manifold is removed.

Whenever I play the guitar through my TonePort UX2 there are lots of popping and crackling sounds, how can I resolve this?

More than likely your cable is old and should be replaced. Monster cables are a bit more expensive but come with a life time warranty, check em out. If the cable replacement doesn't work, check the sound card. Make shire it is not loose, or full of dust. It may be the sound card is old and needs to be replaced. Another option is the guitar itself. Try plugging it into an amp to make sure it doesn't pop. If it does the same on the amp, you have a problem with your pick ups or the cable connection to the guitar. Hope that helps.

If your strings are old try replacing them, or cleaning them. You can clean them by boiling them or soaking them in denatured alchahol.

A 700 series Line 6 Variax,noisy hiss

The hissing is caused by a bad connection, most likely at the cable jack. Try replacing it and while you're doing that check the rest of the components - especially the potentiometers, used ones generate a lot of static.

After hour of playing the amp starts the effect popping sound

there is an open connection, most likely right off the input jack ,causing this issue. Resolder it or retension the jack connection.
