Question about HP DeskJet 1280 InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Printer doesn't print

This is a 12 month old printer. It's been back to the repair shop twice when it would not switch on. They couldn't fix it so they gave me another one. This one does not print. The documents line up in the print queue but nothing happens. I've spent hours trying to get it going. Have uninstalled and reinstalled and downloaded new drivers and tried all the USB ports. The colour ink tank is low. Will it fail to print even in black if this is low? Should I try kicking it? Help would be appreciated but I feel this model is a lemon.

Ink cartridges are full, only scanty printing.

It looks like the print head is blocked.

Check your warranty, if you're in the UK, its got a 12 month mandatory guarantee under the sale of goods act. If that's the case look for proof of purchase, receipt or credit card invoice/statement and take it all back to the vendor.

I wouldn't buy epson again.

Have replaced Magenta twice in two weeks. Does not recognize it.

There are only 2 reasons why this problem happens to your printer:

1) This usually happens if your printing heavy graphics.
2) You are using HP refilled ink

Take note HP always suggest us to always replace your ink with original HP ink cartridge

Printerhead is not moving

12 times is AP position error.
Check the carriage lift mechanism or paper feed mechanism.
In worst case the print head or logic board assembly are defective.
