On your Bernina 800 serger, thread the UPPER Looper first. Then thread the LOWER Looper making sure that in the last step, the thread tail crosses "over" the top of the Upper Looper. Then thread the needles.

I would like a diagram of threading help that is big enough to see, for Bernina Serger 2000 D , NOT 2000 DE. Or maybe I have just BERNINA 2000. Please. I have the manual. JOELLIE@SHAW.CA

If you view the book online, you can usually enlarge the view.

Easy Instructions for Threading Bernina Serger eHow

Start out with NO thread in the machine.
ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot during the threading process.
When threading through the tension guide below the thread tree and through the tension disk, give each thread an extra little tug to make sure it is completely seated (it may even make a little popping sound when it seats).
ALWAYS THREAD each IN THE CORRECT ORDER (upper looper first, lower looper second, then the needles). When threading the lower looper, ALWAYS FINISH with the lower looper thread draped OVER THE TOP of the upper looper.

If a serger looper thread breaks, it is most often easier (and much less frustrating) to unthread the entire machine and start from the beginning. Trying to fish a thread through only works about 1% of the time, Just bite the bullet and do it!

When unthreading the machine, NEVER pull the thread UP through the tension disks! Instead, cut the thread below the thread tree, RAISE the presser foot and pull the cut threads down and out.

Bernina 335 serger won't sew/overlock. carefully rethreaded the serger but that hasn't helped.

The 335 has a two thread chain stitch (stitch type 401), and the overlock side (right needle side), is a three thread plain overlock. If you are describing the plain overlock as the problem, I would first suggest the following in re-threading:

1. Thread the upper looper
2. Thread the lower looper
3. Thread the needle last (important)

If the needle threaded, you cannot re-thread the lower looper without breaking the thread.
In order to thread the lower looper, the lower looper must pass by the needle thus picking up the needle thread. So, instead of threading the lower looper thread underneath the needle thread, the looper would be threaded on top and cannot sew without breaking the thread.
Make sure that the threads are bedded between the tension disks. Check this by stretching the thread fore and aft of the tension disks as well as visually noting that the threads are not accidentally threaded behind the disks. You can also loosen the tension disks when threading so as to allow the threads to bed deeply between the disks.
Please reply with your observations.

How do I thread the Bernina Overlocker

Depends on your serger model. Best idea is consult the owner's manual. Some manuals are available for download on Bernina's web site (look under Support). Be sure to thread in the order specified in the manual. Usually the upper looper is first, then the lower looper second, then the needles. (Hint: The lower looper thread ALWAYS lays over the top of the upper looper thread in the final looper threading step.)

You can also download a serger workbook too.

Where can I find a thread stand for a Bernina 2000 serger

Any Bernina dealer or from any sewing store. Remember just because its one brand doesnt mean a thread holder by a different manufactor wil not work. We all like to be true to our perfered band, but when other will do the same thing and maybe even cost less dooes it really matter?

I can't find my Bernina Serger 800 dl manual - how do I thread for a 2 thread rolled hem, and do I need a upper looper cover and that the heck is that anyway?? Thanks

From what I have read this manual is less than desirable. Neither is the one for the brand that I have.

You may have better guidance if you purchase and use Nancy Zieman's "Serge with Confidence". I have found it very helpful.

For the two thread rolled hem, the looper cover is used to "trick" the looper into "thinking" it is threaded.

On my serger (not a Bernina), this is referred to as a "subsidiary looper". It is a spring type mechanism that fits in a small hole at the top of the upper looper.

You use a rolled edge presser foot; right or left needle; stitch length @ normal or wider; stitch length @ 1mm for the left needle/0.5 for the right needle; differential feed @ normal; needle tension - tighten; lower looper tension - normal or looser; two thread looper cover - engaged.

Test and adjust the tension as needed before making the rolled hem on your garment.

I hope this helps.

How to i thread my 008d bernina serger?

I believe it is color coded right?
start with the Upper looper follow from the upper looper throught the loops below the machine up through the tension disk and to the place where the thread cone sits. now retrace your steps from the thread to the looper place thread under foot.
by starting from the finishing point to the starting point you know where you are going with the thread when you thread the machine so upper looper lower looper right needle left needle. you must get it exactly correct or it wont work

Threading a bernina serger

Here is a little jingle to remember as far as the order of threads to thread...
Upper looper, lower looper, left needle, right.
Usuall if you give numbers to the threads from left to right as 1,2,3,4 , you would thread it in the order of 3, 4, 2, 1 . Also when threading the loopers be sure the lower looper thread goes over the top of the upper looper thread as it goes out the back.
Hope this helps.
