You've probably got to have your computer configured to boot from a rescue CD before it can recognize and install the new harddrive. Also make sure that there is an operating system installed on the hard drive . If not it will not do anything until you install one. This will be automatic if you install a new XP or Vista DVD into the computer's DVD drive the reboot.

L500 starts in Phoenix Secure Core Tiano Setup. What is this and why doesn't it start in safe mode when I press F8?

Sounds like the bios software. The bios is a configuration utility that basically tells the internal components how to work together. If the bios is all you can get to come up either changes have been made to the bios and your computer doesn't recognize your hard drive or your hard drive has in fact died. Which is most common.

Booting into bios is typically an indication that something has gone out be it the hard drive or ram memory or just something on the motherboard itself.

I would imagine there are a handful of YouTube videos that can guide you through bios and how to use it to diagnose what exactly is wrong or help you find the right settings too get everything running again. Good luck!

Laptop opening up at phoenix securecore tiano setup. i dont know the password and i cant get into my laptop. what do i do

Hi fantailbllue...

Turn on your computer, go into safe mode by press the F8 key on top of your keyboard while starting up.
This will start you in the SAFE MODE.
Select Safe Mode.
From there, go into your User accounts and either delete the account and/or change the password
Be sure and write it down this time.
I would make a password boot disk/cd while you're at it that way if you lost the paper, you will always have a back-up on the disk/cd.

Toshiba laptop hdd1/ssd1 password i don't know

You can try calling Toshiba's laptop support line but they will require proof of ownership. If they can't get it removed then your only option is to get a new hard drive. Reason is because when a hard drive password is put on a hard drive its programmed into the circuitry in the hard drive so if you don't remember the password then you can't get past that screen.

Unable to boot from HDD1 position or recreate RAID1.

you need to go into your bios and tell it to boot from the other hard drive make sure you plugged in the right wire to power it it should be the same as one used for the hard drive that works and plug it in tightly.

New hard drive for my Toshiba Qosmio G15 R laptop

I believe with Toshiba they normally would give you a recovery disk and then a drivers and utilities disk as well. If you don't have both then I would suggest installing windows xp and then go to this page:http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=SB&os=&category=&moid=835452&rpn=PQG10U&modelFilter=G15-AV501&selCategory=3&selFamily=804517Click on the downloads button and from there choose your operating system and you can download the drivers from that page. You'll know which drivers you'll need by going into the device manager and seeing what has a yellow question mark next to it.If you need more help with this let me know and I'll help you more.

Can I reset the HDD1 user password on Toshiba satellite?

If the password was set on the hard disk from the laptop that it was install on, then you can reset or remove the hard drive password using the BIOS configuration, you need to enter the existing hard drive password to this.
There are no back door paswords available, if you ca't remove the password then the drive is useless. This protection is use to prevent unauthorized access to data stored on the hard drive.

To get the laptop operational again you need to replace the hard drive and install Windows again.
