Question about Audio Players & Recorders

No DVD picture while playing Panasonic SC-HT920

My problem is while playing DVD's on my Panasonic SC-HT920 I only get sound and not a picture. I think my main problem may be the age on my 1989 46 inch TV. Although I think if I can get sound there is something that I can do to get a picture. The TV has 3 Video ports(red, white, yellow) on the back of the TV. The TV also has 2 Audio ports(red, white) on the back. I have the Video out from the Home theater going to The TV's yellow Video port and the adudio posrts connectewd from the Home tHeater to the TV.. However I cannot get the picture to come in. Another problem I may have is that my TV does not have any option to bring up the Blue screen to change the video settings. There is cable on the TV and we have Road Runner hooked up. Do you have any suggestions?

You should connect your Video cable from DVD to TV's Yellow pin. Then you must first select whether its AV1 or AV2 from remote control. Then you'r done!

Why do the disk suddenly stop playing and become hard to get out of player?

I had a similar problem with a Panasonic DVD/Blue Ray recorder. Unfortunately it seems that Panasonic are not making them very well these days and the drives fail very easily. As long as it under warranty you are OK, but afterwards Panasonic will charge you just to replace the drive more than what the device originally cost.

DVD player cuts out during movie

I have had this problem after 1 year of use. I called Panasonic to tell them the issue and they said it is beyond the warranty so they are not willing to do anything about it. I know they know this is a known defect and they are not doing anything to help their customers who paid good money on their system. Lesson learned... next time pay a little more and go with SONY!!!

Does not play multichannel audio (5.1) input through optical digital audio

Hi try this.

in the dvd player make sure you just leave it default (bitstream) but in the home theater receiver don't select 5.1 b/c that will only give you a virtual 5.1 not a true 5.1. In fact don't select any sound field at all just select dolby digital or dts depending on the source of the movie then you should be ok.

The only other problem i can see is that hdmi sends both the sound and picture to the tv. You will need to see if there's a function on the dvd player to only send the picture via hdmi and the sound via the optical out of the dvd player.

good luck

Panasonic SC-HT920

One option is to set the cross over to the sub so it knows when to send the low frequency to the sub and not the front speakers. 120 is a good setting. This can be done either via a know on the sub woofer or the setup screen of the main unit.

DOESN'T PLAY DVD MOVIES IN COLOR

ok they have 4 causes. 1.laser lens 2.flex ribbon wire 3.video drive 4.change motherboard. OR CHECK THE PALSECAM AND NTSC SELECTION ON YOUR REMOTE CONTROL. THAT IS FIRST IMPORTANT! CHECK YOUR SYSTEM (PAL or NTSC).
