Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

My Kenmore h3t washer fills up with water while not in use. This is the second time we open the door and water comes poring. the machine is off not in use, how come water is filling up in the machine. We notice the water is coming out through an opening visible on the front left side as soon as you open the door. (i think where the laundry detergent comes through). only stops if we shut the water to it. Any suggestions?

The problem is your water inlet valve. The small tube in the door is the dispenser tube that runs from the inlet valve. The valve can easily be replaced by following these steps:

1. Unplug washer and turn off the water supply.

2. Disconnect the water supply lines from the back of the washer.

3. Locate and remove the three screws that hold the top panel in place in the rear of the washer.

4. With the screws removed, the panel will slide back, then lift off.

The water inlet valve is located in the right rear of the washer (as viewed from the back).

5. Disconnect the electrical connections to the inlet valve and the dispenser hose(s).

6. Remove any mounting screws holding the valve in place and its successfully removed.

NOTE: You can attempt to clean the valve if you wish to see if this will solve your problem. Sometimes the small diaphragm inside the valve gets sediment lodged in it and will prevent it from closing all the way when shut off. If you live in an area that has hard water, or if you use well water, this can be a problem. Simply submerge the valve ports in a 50/50 solution of distilled vinegar and water and allow to soak for 30 minutes to see if this dissolves and frees up any sediment of rust. Do not submerge the electrical connections.

Some consumers prefer to simply replace the valve rather than running the possibility of having to repeat these steps twice if cleaning the valve fails,

Replacement valves can be purchased at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
appliancepartspros.com
pcappliancerepair.com
repairclinic.com

Use whatever web source you like, but I have found these sites to offer the best service. Shop all of them for the best price.

If you do not wish to order on line, look up the part number on one of the websites and take it to your nearest appliance parts retailer. This part may be carried in their in-store inventory.

If you have any questions, or require additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

In the mean time...you can continue to use the washer if needed. Just shut the water supply off when not in use.

Kenmore HE4T Washer Leak

there are 2 possible causes.
either
inlet valve leaking - turn water off and if water fill stops, it indicates valve leaking
valve being powered when machine off. this is very unlikely but to check, disconnect washer and see if problem stops
also, if drain is plumbed into a spigot on the sink trap, every time you empty the sink, some of the water will flow into the machine. to cure this, take the drain hose as high as possible under the sink in a swan neck

THE PROBLEM YOU HAVING IS A VERY COMMON ONE THAT WE EXPERINCE BACK HOME.YOU COULD HAVE ONE OF TWO THINGS THAT COULD BE CAUSING THAT PROBLEM.FIRSTLY YOUR PRESSURE METER WHICH CONTROLS THE WATER FLOW AND CUTS THE WATER OFF WHEN THE LEVEL IS CORRECT COULD BE FAULTY.SECONDLY THERE IS A PIPE WHICH IS CALLED THE SUMP HOSE COULD BE BLOCKED WITH OLD SOAP AND DIRT THAT COULD ALSO OBSTUCT THE AIR FLOW TO THE PRESSURE METER.HAVE THOSE TWO THINGS CHECKED OUT.GOOD LUCK

The following link explains the "FH" error in detail:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r615354-fh_error_code_whirlpool_duet_kenmore

You may still have a water inlet problem if the washer is not filling and the taps are turned on.

If the door is locked and you cannot get the door open, you can use this link on how to access the manual release:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r622155-kenmore_elite_whirlpool_duet_door_jammed

These problems may be attributed to a momentary glitch. Unplug the washer for 30 minutes and use the manual release to unlock the door. In many cases the problem(s) will clear. If the problems still persist, go to my profile and use the "Ask Me" feature for a quicker response to any questions you may have. I hope this helps you.

Brand new kenmore HE2 front load washer - keeps filling

Either your pressure switch is bad, or the air line that connects to the presuure switch has come loose. The pressure switch is located on the right-hand side rear of the washer with the top cover removed. It is a brown colored, disk shaped, device with an electrical connection and an air hose connection. Sometimes this hose comes loose in shipping, or the electrical connection may be loose. Without it, the washer will continue to fill and will NOT shut off. Now...if you just purchased this unit, DO NOT do anything that will void the manufacturer's warranty. It may be an inconvenience, but I would recommend you get the appliance repairman to come in and take a look at it. That way...you won't be held liable if something were to break. This is, however, usually a simple problem and not considered major. I hope this reassures you some. Post back with comments if you have any further questions/concerns.

1)right wont be a water surge if the water is coming from underneath washer when it is switched of could be that you have a leak and what it is doing is water is collect around the bottom and then spilling over so tip washer back fill it up and see were its coming from, 2)your hot water valve could be sticking on which in that case needs replacing take your lid off and when washer is off try and listen for water flowing through pipe
