Toggle the hold switch on you ipod.
Reset your ipod by holding down simultaneously the menu and center button for about ten seconds or until you do see an Apple logo on the screen.
Try to plug it in a computer and try restoring it.
If all the suggested solutions fail then it might be that the button on your ipod is faulty.
Try to go to the nearest Apple Service Center in your area.

The buttons dont work and the hold button works as an on and off button. if anyone can help me i would be very grateful thnxs xxxx

When the hold button is on, that means u can not control what the ipod does, as if it is working on its own, no matter what button you push the ipod will not work. Check to make sure the hold button is not on.

Buttons don't work on ipod nano

Hi,
Had the same probs with 4th gen nano. Keys frozen. Reset it loads of times etc etc.
BUT I HAVE NOW FOUND A SOLUTION. !!!!!!!!!!
Use a very sharp knife or razer blade and make a small gap at the bottom, back. Between the white bottom plate and back of your ipod. While the knif is in you will notice the keys start working!!!! I used a small peice of a playing card and wedged it in the gap, up the back, only about 10mm. Its worked ever since!!!!! Hurray
PASS ON THE SOLUTION AS THIS IS A COMMON FAULT.

Continious restart

when it restarts, does it immidiately restart again? like a cycle? that happened to my old compputer, the hard drive was shot. mabe that's what happened to you. a new hard drive for apple classic 80 gb ipod i found was around $150-$170 ouch. take it to apple, ask them to run diagnostics, tell them you think your hard drive is worn out or something.
