Question about Washing Machines

2 Answers

I have a Maytag Dependable Plus Heavy Duty Super Capacity. How can I stop the squeak at the end of the spins, and it is now leaking in the drum when not in use. It does not matter if the dial is set on hot or cold. Thank you for your help.

Is the seal on the top or the bottom of the drum? The water is leaking from the top middle of the machine.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. The leak may be due to a cracked tub or a worn seal. The water leaking can also be due to a loose hose or a faulty drain pump.

Please tell me the model number of your Unit so that i can provide you with model specific information.

Please do revert for further assistance.

Thanks

    Hi

You'll need to replace the transmission seal. For this repair job you’ll require special tools like T20 Screwdriver and other similar tools. You can disassemble the machine by following the steps mentioned below--

    1. Remove the front panel (screws on each side)
2 Remove the two 3/8 screws pointing upward. This will allow you to lift the top up.
    3. Remove the agitator.
    4. Remove the spanner nut (requires tool and its left hand thread).
    5. Remove the top off the outer tub (some snap off and some have a clamp all the way around the tub)
    6. Remove inter tub.
    7. Remove the set screws in the mounting stem (the treaded stem that the spanner nut was on).
    8. Now with the same tool remove the mounting stem.
    9. The outer tub is mounted to three legs. Remove the bolts that hold it on and remove the hoses from the tub. Once it is done remove the outer tub.
    10. Remove the rubber boot.
    11. Prop the tub up on something so that you won’t damage the stem that the drain hose connects to and step on the seal to push it out.
    12. Turn the tub back over and install the new one the same way (may want to lube it with a small amount of soap).
    13. On the transmission there is a metal sleeve where the tub sits, remove it. Now reinstall the new sleeve.
    14. Reassemble the washer replacing the seal, boot, tub bearing, mounting stem and spanner nut. They all come with these two part numbers 22204012 and 204013.

    This may help you--

Also check the Drain pump and drain hoses inside the washer if they are firmly connected and not leaking. You can see this diagram for more details--

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

    Thanks
    Rylee

This is not your basic fix here. The seal in the bottom of the drum is worn and allowing some water to leak by and this is probably the source of the squeal also. It will require a technician to take the drum out and replace the seal.

Just trying to find out drum capacity of my maytag heavy duty super capacity 7 cycle washer. Please help

Check the tag where you find the model and serial number, they often list it there. Your owners manual should tell you as well. You might have to call whirlpool (maytag), I cannot find the capacity listed on the tech info. Good luck.

Water leaking from bottom

Replace water pump. Common problem. Unscrew the control panel ,two screws on each end. Flip control panel over and unsnap gold brackets from base to the back. Lift up housing and disconnect lid switch, remove housing. The water pump is in the front lower that has two hoses , disconnect hoses and unsnap pump. My sister fixed hers in about 25 minutes.
