Question about Dell 1815dn All-In-One Laser Printer
The paper tray itself is probably missing a small peice. Look towards the front of the tray... there is a guide (about 2" wide) that, if you push down, it springs back and forth. My tray was missing a small peice of flat metal that popped off. The feed roller rests on this piece when the tray is loaded. If the piece is missing, then the roller is to close and the paper cannot make it through into the printer. Still looking for the part number....

Our 1815dn reports paperjam due to static electricity, that makes the paper stick. Obviously this is most prevalent in the winter during dry days.
The solution is pull out the paper tray, pick up about half of the stack of paper in the tray, turn in over and put it back in; this way you reverse the polarization, and the printer will (at least for a while) stop reporting non-existing paper jams.

I am not familiar with this model, however!
Do you have a mulitpurpose tray, or a tray1 where it unfolds and you can insert paper that way? If you can test some prints through there and it works perfect, thats good! If so, move on to the actual tray testing.
The tray for the paper may have Paper Guides which not only set the size of the paper, but also tell the printer what type of paper is in there. Remove all paper and verify that the guides are set properly.
All paper trays use a type of pick-up assembly, Inspect the rollers and make sure they are seated properly. There may be a roller in the tray itself, and or Above the tray. As in, you pulled the tray out, and if you look UP in there, you should see an assembly.
Sorry this information is so vague, but generally most laser printers follow that type of build. At the very least, maybe you can verify something here, or clarify for dell laserjet expert to assist you with ;)
