Question about IBM Computers & Internet

Open Question

Do I need special software to manage my IBM 8245 hub?

Do I need IBM or other special software to manage my IBM 8245 hub? Is this hub upgradable via software, chip replacement or firmware upgrade? I bought this hub new many years ago. I do have the instruction book. None of these topics, if present, are in lay terms. The device does work but will not identify itself to modern network management software. Since it will not identify itself, I am not able to log on to manage the device with the network management tools I have, though I do have the MAC address. My version of the 8245 does not have a com port nor expansion device nor is it part of a stack.

thanks in advance

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: Duplicate/incorrect MAC addresses in the CAM table

This is from the Cajun P333R manual but it should be very similar if not identical.

Good Luck.

arp timeout Command
Use the arp timeout command to configure the amount of time that an entry
remains in the ARP cache. To restore the default value, 14400, use the no form of
this command.
The syntax for this command is: arp timeout <seconds>

Router(configure)# arp timeout 3600
To restore the default arp timeout:

ip-address IP address, in dotted decimal format, of the station
hardware-address 48-bit address of the local data link

SOURCE: migrate Palm address book to MacBook

This is a general answer to head you in the right direction, I hope. Reply back if you need more detail.

If you are syncing with Windows Palm Desktop software, you can (most likely) export contacts, calendar and memo items to a CSV file.

CSV files are data standards. They're simply text files with a comma-delimiter that designates where fields end. This makes them cross-platform compatible.

Once you export to CSV files, get them on your mac (email them to yourself, put them on a flash drive etc) and then import them into iCal, Address book etc.

SOURCE: Creative Firmware Upgrade Does Not Recognize Zen Micro

I had this same problem and almost threw out the Zen.

The trick to getting the Zen recognized by the firmware update software is to make sure you uninstall BOTH WMP11 as well as the WMP11 Runtime. Those two things are listed separately in Add/Remove programs.

BOTH must be uninstalled before the firmware updater will recognize your Zen.

Now I'm back to using my Zen. It's all good.

SOURCE: want to upgrade firmware version 9.1.52

MP3 XINTAI Firmware. Please pass it to the other repliers at the forum, or anyone who needs it.

Hi pals.

At last!, I've backed-up the firmware for Xintai MP3 Player from Wilson Co. Ltd., and put it here:

http://www.paginasprodigy.com.mx/darkwing/Xintai9152_Wilson.zip

Don't worry cause one of the files (at UI30.RES) has an incorrect checksum. It's due to prior edit on ASCII labels.

I couldn't say it is really the firmware you want, so you must check and verify thoroughly before proceed.

Please note:
1.- Do not update or reload firmware if your player is working fine (more or less).
2.- If this firmware is not EXACTLY the same version, for the same chipset, there's no guarantee. The player could not work or, even worst, could suffer defintive damage.
3.- It's highly recommendable you BACKUP the existent firmware, despite damage suspects.
4.- To backup and/or restore firmware for this player, you can use "S1res" Ver 4.1, downloadable at:

http://www.s1mp3.de/tools.s1res.html

For restoring firmware, you can also use the "Player Upgrade Tool" Ver 4.18 or superior (part of "MP3 Player Utilities"), downloadable at:

http://www.mympxplayer.org

Enjoy your music.

My hub cant find drivers

It's a USB hub, it doesn't require any special drivers. Just plug it into the computer and plug in devices. Be aware hubs have very limited suppliable power so if you plug in a lot of devices that use a lot of power and have no power supply of their own you will overload the hub and it will stop functioning.
If the computer is having problems identifying the hub. Go into Device manager and locate any yellow ? or ! devices right click the device, properties and post the status codes.

HOW TO DOWNLOAD FREE SOUND SOFTWARE FOR IBM

what is your problem with your ibm exactly? and what type of ibm is it? is it laptop or desktop if so please state the model so we can help you. but the most common problem ive experience with IBM Desktops are the AC97 Sounds. sometimes it restarts when installing and will not work because one of its components is not successfully installed. therefore the solution ive found is here:

Start Menu > Rightclick my Computer > click manage and click device manager.
Search for the audio component that has a yellow exclamation point at the side. double click it and click reinstall/update driver. then select "yes, this time only" then "automatically search for drivers(recommended)".
it will automatically install but will stop for it will look for missing file. for the missing files you can search via 4shared.com
But heres a link of files ive compiled for you this is all the files that its gonna ask so just download it here.
http://www.4shared.com/file/yGa03wVO/AC_97_missing_files.html

after that restart and it will fix your problem.
i hope this helps :)

Upgrade IBM Xseries 346 Server

You can add drives to the array through the scsi management software, then you can extend any dynamic partitions that don't have the OS on them. I don't think you can extend the array if it contains the OS. You may need to use the disk management utility in windows to make the partitions 'dynamic disks' before you can extend the data partitions

Can't upgrade the USB ports to Version 2.0

Hi cogilbert,
I had a similar problem with my PC which had older version 1 USB. I purchased a USB 2 PCI card with USB Hub, installed and problem solved. It really not a very expensive proposition. The card comes with the necessary software and drivers. It works great.
