I use the exact printer. Works great does it not.
Ok to answer your question. Lift the top on the printer. there is a part you can lift to gain access to the scanner table. This is glass, where you put pages you want to scan. The next it what you need to open, pull up on the next piece down from the scanner table. This will gain you access to the printer cartridges. They will automatically move to the right and stop. After they stop, push down and toward you on the cartridge you want to replace. It will pop out. To replace, place cartridge in at an angle, leaning forward (like it was sitting before you picked it up, removing it), then push the top inward until it clicks. Then close lid and printer will print a page. After it prints, you are ready to print.

Chsnge ink cartridge

Hi there!
Here's what you can do to change the Printer cartridges.
1. Make sure that the printer is turned on. Turn it on if it's not.
2. Open the printer cover, then wait until the carriage is idle.
3. You will see the Tri-color & the Black cartridge. The tri color cartridge is the green one which is on the left and the Black is the one on the right.
4. Press down the Cartridge you want to replace you will notice that it will be released from the cartridge holder. Once it's loose slide the cartridge out.
5. Make sure that the correct Genuine Hp Cartridge is what you have. For your printer HP PSC 1610, HP 94 will be for the black and HP 95 is for the tri color.
6. Open the cartridge package. Remove the protective tape. Make sure that you do not touck the copper colored contact and nozzles.
7. Hold the print cartridge with the sticker facing up and the copper colored contacts facing the printer and slide it into the cartridge.
8. Use your thumb to push the cartridge all the way in. You may need a little force to make sure that the cartridge has been installed securely.
9. Once installed close the cartridge cover. Make a copy to test.
Hope this helps!

I have a HP PSC 1610 all-in-one printer. Can the colour cartridge be bypassed when it asks for replacement cartridge? I only print in black and white now 99% of the time.

No , we all only wish, this is the bane or all printer users. You cannot print without all in full & being OK. Also must use color sometimes else nozzles can clog up. Must clean, too.

How to change ink cartridges in HP 1610 all-in-one printer

Generally on the older AIO machines there is a front panel That is usually on the right hand side, or lift the entire scnner panel and see if you see the cart. cariage. If you see the cartridges the old ones usally lift up and towards you, If there is a clip holding the cart. lift the clip and the cart will lift out
P.S. go to HP.com and click support, choose the second option and enter your model, there you can download the manual for free

Photos being printed are grainy and not sharp

Hello sir; I believe you need to clean up your printer the method as follow;
power on the machine, open the cover, when cartridge move to the center UNPLUG the power cord, then you can manually push cartridge all the way to the opposite side of the cartridge seat, now you can clean up cartridge seat by Q-tip with water, sometime you'll find a ink stick sitting in the cell, remove it.

Replacing the print cartridgesgtabtop.gif
  1. Turn on the HP PSC and lower the print-carriage access door.
The print carriage will move into the access area. Figure 1: Opening the print-carriage access door

  2. After the carriage stops moving, push down on the top of the print cartridge to release it, and then pull it toward you out of the slot.
NOTE: The black cartridge is on the right side of the print carriage.

NOTE: It is normal to see ink buildup in the print cartridge slots.

  3. Remove the new print cartridge from the packaging and gently remove the plastic tape by using the pink pull tab.
CAUTION: Do not touch the copper contacts or ink nozzles. Install the cartridge immediately upon removing the tape to prevent ink from drying in the nozzles.

  4. Push the new print cartridge into the appropriate slot at a slight angle, until it clicks into place.
CAUTION: Do not attempt to push the cartridge straight into the slot. It must slide in at a slight angle.

Using a photo print cartridgegtabtop.gif To use the photo print cartridge, remove the black print cartridge and insert the photo print cartridge in its place.

  1. Place the alignment page face down on the left front corner of the glass with the top of the page facing the left side.
  2. Press Scan .
The HP PSC will align the print cartridges. During the alignment the button LED will blink until the alignment is complete.
