After having read the online suggestions that the memory card was locked due to the write lock being slid to the locked position, I have tried it in all positions and taped it but it still comes up with a 'Card Locked!" message when I try to take a picture or delete an image.
What I find puzzling is that I was taking pictures with the camera a few minutes before the message came up, so why it suddenly became locked I don't know.
Is there anything else I should try?
