Check for clog in the hose or what ever connects the nozzel to the collection device. I pick up vaccum cleaners all summer, most new, all clogged, all from the trash.

If possible, take the machine outside, open the collection device, run the motor. Is there suction you can detect anywhere?

The brush will not turn on this model if the clutch is broken. That gadget drives the roller brush. The suction problem is either a clog in the airducts of this machine or you can still have a clogged hepa filter inside the body of the machine just underneath the dirt container.

My brush stopped spinning, but instead makes a loud plastic grinding noise.

Both ends of the brush roll should spin freely. You need to replace the brush roll.

Turbo tool used only once or twice, already brush moves so slowly it stops when I try to use. Brush can actually be stopped by hand. Manual says nothing at all about the brush ie. HOW to take apart to see...

It takes a lot of suction to spin the brush. First make sure the suction is good. Make sure the bag and/ or filters are clean. Replace if necessary. Most turbo tools can be opened up to clean. Most have a lever that allows you to open it up to clean hair, dust, etc from the fan and fan shaft and other areas inside the tool. The tools pick up a lot of hair and debris and some will wrap around the moving parts building pup to the point the brush will not spin fast enough. The same thing can happen to the brush roll on your vacuum so be sure to clean it too and replace the belt at least twice per year.

Brissell proheata 2x doesn't have suction or the red brushes won't rotate on the hand tools?

Check the brushes for hair or some other clogging material and remove it. If the brushes can't spin freely, there is not enough suction power to make them spin.

Brush will not spin. filters are clean, no clogs, belt is fine. remove canister, it works fine plenty of suction.

Probably a good idea to remove the brush and clean as best you can. Add some WD40 at each end by the plastic clips and turn by hand until they move freely. Reassemble being sure the belt is on properly.

I have the bissell power force bagged upright vacuum and the brush is not turning, I have replaced the belt but the brush will not move but the metal piece that is hooked to the motor that spins the belt...

sounds like your brush roll is seized. Remove the brush roll (see picture) and make both of the end caps spin freely. If not, replace it and you should be set.

Make sure that the brush roll spins freely.

Hope that helps.

The spinning brush isn't moving

Belt may be off the motor spindle, with the vacuum off try turning the brush by hand, does it turn freely or can you feel the resistance of the motor?

appears that you may have all the belts in place but the beater brush is jammed and it can't spin.. the jam may also be blocking the vacuum port so that you don't get any suction to that area. I suggest you unplug the vac, then open the base section to gain access to the beater bar and check to make sure the brush can spin freely.. also check that the drive belt is properly seated on the shaft and that there are no obstructions in the vacuum port.. hope this helps you..

"brush bar spins erratically"

Belt needs to be replaced, it has stretched to the point that under load, it won't turn the brush roll like it should, so I would advise replacing the belt. And while you are doing that, check the brush roll and make sure the ends turn freely, if not, then replace it also. Then check the dirt inlet while you have the brush roll out.

Brushes do not spin on my steam vac

We were having the same problem with the brushes not spinning.
How I fixed it:
I Removed the brush assembly by gently pulling on both sides of the assembly. I took a wide slotted screwdriver and inserted it into the slot (hole) that turns the brushes. At first it did not want to move. I GENTLY applied pressure by turning the screwdriver to get the gear to move and it began to move freely. I spun the gear a number of times using the screwdriver to make sure it was moving freely.

I reinstalled the brush assembly by aligning the gear that slides into the slot and gently pushing the clips back into place using equal pressure on both sides.

I plugged in the machine and the brushes now spin!

Good luck to everyone out there!

Brushes don't spin but it still has suction

The brushes are usually connected to a motor by a rubber belt. These can wear out and snap (particularly if the brushes are clogged with hair). Usually the bottom of the vacuum can be removed by undooing a few screws and gently pulling it downwards. If the bottom doesn't want to come off, hunt around for any screws you may have missed - the designers seem to think it's funny to hide them. Once the bottom is off, check the belt and remove any hair wrapped around the ends of the brush bar. If the belt is broken you will need to find a replacement.
