Question about Panasonic CT-36HL43 36" TV

1 Answer

No power either!!

I have owned this tv for 6 years and went to turn it on yesterday - and nothing? It's plugged into a surge protector and everything else is operational. I tried all of the usual, checking wires, connections, etc... but nothing? Did the other user find a solution? Thanks!

Thanks for the very quick reply. I did try what you had suggested but it was not the solve. Also the other items in the surge protector are working too. When I plug in the other items I can see a quick spark for the prongs but do not with the TV. Does that likely mean power supply?

Unplug the surge protector and plug the tv in directly to an outlet that you know is working, plug something else in first to be sure.

you may find that your surge protector is shot. if it is toss it and get a new one.

My sharp LC-46SV50U wont turn on

get the service manual and then open it up and do a voltage check on the 5v standby.

if it's not showing anything, then you need to hunt down if it's the ic, cap, or diode or a combination thereof.

My electric went off yesterday and when it went back on my tv wouldnt turn on it was working fine before the power cut we have changed the fuse but still nothing is there anyway i can reset it to make it...

you said you changed the fuse. (inside the tv)double check to see if its blown agian if not. keep it unplugged for about 20 minutes to reset the surge protector onboard . if you have done all that the fuse didnt protect your tv from the surge and it gone. IF ITS CONNECTED TO A SURGE PROTECTOR unplug it from that and plug directly into the wall TRY THAT FIRST let me know if this works.

Power Outage Problems Sony Bravia 32" LCD TV

try cycling the power (unplug 2 minutes) and plug in and wait 30 seconds and turn back on. if this doesn't work, could have been a surge, your protector should have saved it, but could have been through cable or something. surge protectors will guarantee no damage for several years, check with the manufacturer maybe they'll cover the repair.

No power on Samsung TV after storm

Hello Zkarim,

I'm very sorry to hear about your unfortunate new's. I had the same problem in my own home maybe a week ago.

Basically if your power flickered on and off at anytime during this storm then there was a power surge that probably fried your TV.
* First check the power where the tv was plugged in. Is it a power strip or a surge protector ? Surge protectors typically have an on/off switch and a separate reset push button.

If it is a power strip then the tv fried because there was nothing to stop it from happening (not even the fuse). If it was plugged into a surge protector then it could be quiet a few years old and not as reliable or the surge was to powerful for the limit on the surge protector.

The only thing you can do personally is send it in for repair if it's under warranty, if it is not then you can have it looked at by an authorized repair technician in your area. Troubleshooting should be fairly low, and you will at least be able to find out your options once they find the defected part.

Thank you for choosing Fixya!

Hp laserjet printer 2840

Most surge protectors only protect up to a certain limit. If you had a large surge, then i would say the power board in your printer has been zapped. I would suggest you purchase a new or second hand printer to replace yours, unless your willing to pay more than the printer is worth to fix it.
Another thought is that the problem could be the actual power point it was plugged into. Try plugging it in to another power outlet that you know is working.

Insignia ns-24ftv won't turn on

I hope it was plugged into a Surge Protector!!!!..

If not, make sure ALL your Breaker Switches are on in the house, RESET THE SURGE PROTECTOR (power bar thingy you got the tv plugged into..).... they will switch off usually to protect the tv...

Storm last night, now Wii won't power up

Unplug everything! There is a "breaker" in the power supply and it may need to be reset. Just unplug all cables from the TV and outlets. Let it sit for a couple hours then plug everything back in and it should work fine. If not then the power supply has shorted out due to a strong power surge. You can claim it under your home owners insurance or call Nintendo and try to get it replaced. Thanks! Good luck and happy gaming!!

Suddenly went off!

This is a power supply issue. Probably in the high voltage stages. Maybe a fuse, regulator IC, or Horiz. Output transistor or all of them. If you don't know anything about TV repair, you should take it to a shop that will provide an estimate to you.
