My remote doesn't seem to work. I can't activate with the playstation. It used to work. I have change the batteries and follow all instructions. thanks for your help

Hi, you need to de-activate the "programming channel control lock" option. You can see instructions in the manual for the remote. They are as follows:

1. On the remote control, press CBL once; It will blink once, Press and hold SETUP until the CBL key blinks twice.
2. Enter 9 7 3. The CBL key will blink twice.
3. Press CH- once. The CBL key will blink four times.
   Now the remote control will provide TV and VCR channel-control capabilities while in the TV mode.

You can also plug in your Keyboard/mouse (any usb type keyboard and/or mouse will work with a PlayStation 3). That will allow you to navigate the PS3 XMB Menu, as follows:
1) Prepare the BD Controller.
2) Go to: (Settings) > (Accessory Settings)...
3) Select [Register BD Remote Control].
4) Follow the on-screen instructions to register the BD remote control.
When the registration, or pairing, is complete, your system will assign a controller number to the remote.

Hints

• You can register only one BD remote control at a time. If you register another BD remote control, you will overwrite information on the currently registered device.
• After you reach the maximum of seven active wireless controllers, you cannot register or use a BD remote control.
• Registering the BD remote control with another PS3 system will clear the device registration from the first PS3 system.
• For details on the BD remote control, refer to the instructions supplied with the remote.
  

You got to sync the remote with your console to activate the remote

If the remote works for sometime once the battery is put into , it means that the circuit is erratic as the frency seems to change from the set value. This can be a fault in the processor IC in the remote, a fault in the crystal or associated capacitors. Check also the IR driver transistor which can be leaking and so changes the output.

Zoom in on the picture of the original remote provided on the site (or look at your own) and get the actual remote model number.

or check eBay: search for "(model of the device or the remote) remote", check the 'include description' box. Usually cheaper than the vendors.

Use a game controller to look under System Settings - > Accessories. Choose Register BD Remote.

Go to Accessory settings in the PS3 Settings menu,which will have you register/sync the BD controller with the system. Follow the onscreen instructions &it will give the controller a #. Remember that any universal remote wont work..it has to be the Sony PS3 remote, as they use bluetooth technology instead of the usual infrared.

1. Log into the Logitech Harmony Remote Software on your computer
2. Click on the Downloads button at the top-right corner of your screen
3. Click on the Firmware button. Follow the onscreen instructions to upgrade the firmware on your Harmony remote
4. Once the firmware upgrade is complete, click on the Update Remote button
5. Test your remote.
