You referred to a bad washer. Is this the O-Ring. A diagram on the Delta site doesn't show a washer. Either way, can you provide more detailed instructions.

Thanks protek, a picture is always helpful. I plan to get the gasket on my way home this week, and fix the control next weekend.

I will let you know if I have further questions and when I completed the the task.

Replace your hot or cold faucet seals, feel temp of water to see which one is leaking, but as long as your at do them both its not expensive and a few common household tools later youll have it fixed,w/o an expensive plumber,go to a hardware store and they can even coach you on how to install the parts they sell you for the repair

Can't get both hot water running at the same time. Delta Shower faucet

  • The spool and sleeve, the part of the Scald-Guard pressure balance valve that blends the hot and cold water, is not working properly. This can is caused by mineral deposits that build up over time resulting from hard water. To fix this, follow the steps below based on your model.
  1. Shut off water supply.
  2. There are two types of valves. Choose one or the other below depending on your series.
  • 1300-1400 Series: Remove handle.
  • 1700-1800 Series: Remove temperature knob, cover and handle.
  1. Twist and pull sleeve to remove it.
  2. Unscrew brass bonnet nut.
  3. Remove cartridge.
  4. Soak cartridge in a 50/50 vinegar and water solution for 24 hours to remove any mineral deposits.
  • **NOTE** Unless both hot and cold water supplies are turned on, the pressure balance valve will allow only a dribble of water to flow through the valve.
  • I have put up a picture to make disassembling it just that much easier for you.

There should be a dirverter on the tub spout. It will be either a knob to pull up or a ring to pull down on and hold untill the water comes out the shower head.

If there is no dirverter go buy a new tub spout with one.. The prior owners may have installed the wrong spout.

Is there a button on the tub filler? How about the spout on the tub, does it lift up? If there is not a tub spout then it should be shower only, if it has a tub spout it has to have a lifter of some sort, the foto I found showed the little button lifter. Hope this helps.

Moen - Single lever bath tub faucet - cold water only

moen does not have a ball and washers....sounds like a Delta maybe. Moen uses cartridges. Either way sounds like a balancing spool problem....but you will need to make sure of the right name for the faucet to get the parts.

Sorry Delta 1300 and 1400 series valves do not have a volume control. Kinda odd but that is how they are made.
