My daughter in law has been given a Novum delux mk. 111 sewing machine minus the foot control and instruction book, any help as to suppliers of either would be good

Novum is made by Janome, if you haver a main dealer for Janome or New Home you can get the controls quite easily.

the flat side goes to the back of the machine,, round needles have a small groove that you have to insert correctly

You need purchase a foot control and a "motor and light block" to be able to control the speed of the machine. The machine plugs into the terminal marked motor on the motor and light block.
