SOURCE: voice change nuvi 250w

There are some voices you can change, use the webupdater from garmin to see what they have on stock, and while you're there update the firmware too. Don't install stuff you don't need language wise....

SOURCE: Garmin Nuvi 200 Voice no longer working

Does your Nuvi 200 have a headphone jack? If so, try that with a pair of headphones. If you hear sound, then your internal speaker went bad. It's a known problem with the Nuvi.

SOURCE: voice not found on my Nuvi 255w. How can I restore it?

You need to connect a data cable between your Nuvi and PC. Go to Garmin.com and download their WEBUPDATER program and run it. It will scan your Nuvi and tell you if there are any updates available and you'll be able to download all the voices you want.

I WANT CHANGE THE VOICE

1. Press TOOLS, then press SETTINGS then press LANGUAGE.
You'll see the VOICE on this screen. Press VOICE and select the one you want. You can download new voices if you want. 2. Connect your satnav to your computer. Download and install webupdater from http://www8.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=999-99999-27 When it's installed it will search for software updates. When it's finished updating software it'll give you an option to download new voices. Tick the ones you want and click next. They'll be downloaded to your satnav.
When the download is completed and the satnav is disconnected from the computer select the voice you want as described in paragraph 1 above.

I have a Nuvi 250W and just downloaded new maps from Garmin (bought the online lifetime option). Now I only have the major routes on the display. I seem to have lost the minor roads? How must I fix...

First press tools, then settings and then maps. Press map info and the name of your map should be displayed with a tick beside it. If there's no tick press the map name and a tick will appear beside it. The map is now selected and should be ok.

If that doesn't solve the problem it may be because the map is locked. To unlock the map follow the instructions on http://www.garmin.com/garmin/cms/site/us/support/searchsupport and that should solve the problem.

The problem of east/west may be solved when the map is sorted out. If not change the voice. Press tools, settings, language and the voice name and select another voice. If there's not another english speaking voice you can connect your satnav to the computer and open webinstaller. When it finishes checking for software updates it will give you the option to download new voices. Tick the ones you want and then press next. They will be downloaded and then when you have disconnected from the pc go through the process of selecting a new voice again.

How do I change the voice on my garmin?

1. Press Tools, then press Settings, then press Language. There should be voices displayed. Press the one you want to select it.

2. If there's only one voice on the satnav you can download more from garmin. First connect the satnav to your pc and go to http://www8.garmin.com/products/webupdater/howtoinstall.jsp and download webupdater. When it's installed it will search for updates to your software. Follow the prompts and it will give you a selection of voices to pick from. Tick the ones you want and click next. They will be downloaded to your satnav. Then after you disconnect from the pc repeat the instructions in para 1 above to change to the voice of your choice.

Why did the voice prompts disappear

Your voice may need to be reselected. I have seen this happen before. I assume you can hear tones when you press the buttons.

Go to your Tools menu by clicking on the wrench icon. Next go into "Language". Choose voice and make sure you have at least one voice selected. If No voices are listed you can reload them through Garmins website.

Cheers

No voice prompts on my new nuvi 750- volume level not muted.

This will work--go to Tools, Settings, Language and then select a Language that has TTS following it--this is the text to speech choice. Choose English TTS Jill if you like to hear the woman.
