If one of your hobby if to fix things including electronic stuffs... well, I guess you can fix it on your own... just remember to arrange and remember where those screws and parts are supposed to be... then use at least 30W soldering gun or soldering iron and a "lead" to fix those connectors..

good luck!!! ;)

Can i change the vid card in NV53A57u

You would be correct Sir!
The weakest link of a laptop is it's graphics 'engine'.

This solution will be rather lengthy. Advising in advance because I want you to understand, without being bored, or your eyes glassing over. Lol!

The Gateway NV53A57u Notebook PC, uses an ATI Radeon HD4250

To digress for a moment;
Chip and Chipset are slang terms for I.C.
Integrated Circuit,

The Integrated Circuit, or chipset, used for graphics, is a graphics chipset, or G.P.U.,
Graphics Processing Unit,

A GPU is mounted to a small circuit board. The small circuit board is an interface, whereby the GPU can be mounted;

1) Directly to the motherboard.
2) To a graphics(Video) adapter card. Commonly referred to as a graphics (Video) card.

The GPU can also be part of the motherboard chipset.
Of which the ATI Radeon HD4250 is.

It is part of the AMD M880G motherboard chipset, which your Gateway NV53A57u Notebook uses.

Therefore no sir. You would have to change the motherboard chipset, and that ain't happenin'.

All is not lost, however. I offer the following for your perusal;

There is a 'kit' that you can use to use a Desktop graphics (Video) card.

Option EC2C.

You need a decent PCI-Express graphics/video card, and a desktop Power Supply,

Take away from the mobility of a laptop? Yes.
Can't just take it to the park, and use it.

You could put everything in a small carrying box, with fan cooling, and plug it into power, when you arrive at where you are going, however.

Just a thought. An expert briefly posted the TechRadarComponents website for this graphics card adapter, on FixYa in the past, and I have been 'rolling' with it.

Yeah, that would hack it. I could see wanting a 700W-rated supply in case I sourced nicer (but higher-draw) videocards, but that's enough.

Power problems

Ok what you need to do is take a tester and test the powersupply it self to make shure that you do get power first if you do get power then you will need to take a look at the wires at the conection point where the powersupply plugs into youre laptop, if that all checkes out well then there only 1 thing left... the battery. you can test the battery with the cable tester aswell to c if you do get power.

hope this helpes

When i plug in the 4 pin power expansion plug into my motherboard, the whole system shuts down. I have checked with 2 power supplies but same thing. What is wrong or gone wrong plz?

I agree with WeListen2You, more info.

What is odd to me is you seem to be plugging the 4 pin power into the motherboard while it is on?!?!?

Maybe it is just bad wording. Some setups do not need the plug, such as AMD does not need the P4 connector, only intel CPUs need it.

Help that helps.

I am connected to my wireless network from my advent 4211 notebook, but I am not receiving any packets back from my dlink dkt-710 router. If I configure the internet protocol to automatically obtain ip...

FIRST you check for any security options enabled - like password or in the wireless advance settings you pefer to connect only to this network = make that to any wireless access point. The computer is sending packets but return packets will only comes through filters like firewalls or security measures definetly your problem belong to the security settings with your pc which is not accepting any outside devices to connect - check your firewall setting and under network properties check internet protocol settings also check your antivirus blocking the connection try to ping the wireless adpater ip of your pc by itself are your getting the reply???

Westinghouse Notebook power supply

If it is under a year old it should be covered by warranty,so contact the seller or manufacturer,

It sounds very much like a power pack is on its way out, and they are a sealed unit ,

try it in another power point. if power point is working fine, but you still have the problem,

and its over the warranty period.

take it to your local computer store and have them test it for you ,they will also be able to order one in and sell you a new one ,if it is the problem.

good luck with that
