Question about HP Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I am working my HP520 NTEBOK PC and having an issue with web pages not displaying correctly. for example the Yahoo homepage, loads differently than it does on any of my computer, most of the hot buttons and graphics are gone. The one that loads on this pc is extremey basic with strange looking borders and the entire page is white and blue. It seems like something is disabled but i cant figure it out. I have the latest drivers for the video card and colors on the desktop or watching dvd look fine. One thing that is strange is the page options button on yahoo's home page does not have any colors to choose from under it. Its not just Yahoo, it seems to be all web pages and it looks the same if i use IE 7or mozilla. Any ideas?

Dear Sir,

It sounds like a problem with configuration of Internet Explorer. So in an Explorer go to tools>then click on Internet Options>then click on Advance Tab>Click on reset and restore advance settings>then clear the history, cookies, and also note that security or privacy level is set to medium.>then press Apply and OK.
I think it solves your problem. if it is not solves your problem download internet Explorer 8.it is a better choice. otherwise you may try mozilla firefox. I think it solves your problem,if any query regarding this issue leave a feedback,we will glad to assist you.

good luck

I wish to keep the yahoo account but I don't want it to show on my home page. Can this be accomplished?

Hi,

When you say homepage I assume you don't want to load yahoo site whenever you open a web browser. TO change your web homepage you need to go to the following:

for Firefox 6.01. (Most likely all firefox ver. are similar)

- Click tools
- Click Options
- Go to General TAB
- type the website you want to be on your homepage at HOME PAGE box or Start page for other version

For Internet explorer 8 (other version are similar but not identical. Just look for tools)
- Click tools
- Click Internet Options
- Go to General TAB
- type the website you want to be on your homepage at HOME PAGE box or Start page for other version

For Google Chrome
- Click the wrench icon on the top right side
- Click options
- Click Basics
- At the HOMEPAGE section type in the website you want to load

Basically thats all. Please note browsers has different version but always look for the tools menu

Hello candle32, I just tried to load yahoo mail on IE6 for the first time and I had to install flash player. You can make sure that is installed by going to the following link: If the graphic displays then it is installed correctly. If not there should be an option to install it to your computer. Once installed try loading Yahoo mail again. Another option would be to download a different browser such as Firefox or Chrome to test them for Yahoo mail functionality. Post a reply with your results if this solution doesn't work. Thanks!

How do i change my homepage to Yahoo?

Bring up the browser window and let it load to whatever page it is set for. Once it loads, click up in the address bar and type in www.Yahoo.com and click enter. When the Yahoo screen loads, click on the "Tools" column and scroll down to "Internet Options". In this window the first area you see is the homepage tab. Click on "Use Current", this will make the current page your home page, which is Yahoo. Click apply and OK.

Spell checker on my yahoo email does not correct the words that are underlined in red how do i have this corrected

It sounds like you may be having issues with your web browser. You could try updating your web browser to the latest version. Sometimes yahoo will update itself and if the browser is out of date, your yahoo will not work properly.

Or you could try using a different web browser altogether, like firefox, chrome, safari to name a few.
