No video output on Packard Bell 9750

The PC starts up OK but no signal is received by the screen. Screen works fine on other PC's and I have changed the video card (nVidia TNT2) but the same problem exists. It has had additional memory fitted which worked fine for some time.

I am NOT overly technical so any suggestiones need to be in plain language please!

If the computer is booting, you will hear a beep on startup. If it does not beep, then motherboard may be faulty.

Try first unplugging power cord for 20 minutes, tis can fix minor problems.

Try replacing RAM with old one , or removing modules one at the time.

If the computer does the startup beep, then the video adapter may be faulty. Test using an AGP or PCI video card. A basic one will start at about $20 (£15).

Packard bell tj65 screen problem

Try connecting a standard PC monitor to the laptop via the VGA port. Do you still get the same problems on the external screen? If so, there is a motherboard fault relating to the Video output. If your laptop uses the NVidia chipset, this is probably the fault as some older laptops did suffer from this.
If you dont get the fault then its probably one of these:
1) Screen issue
2) The Screen cable that allows the video data to go from the motherboard to the screen

Hope this helps

My laptop is packard bell, after i update the video card, the screen turns blank but it seems to be ok.

Put your old video card back and see if the screen turns blank.

Also make sure you have the new video card push in all the way.

Maybe the card you purchased is not compatible.

Newer monitor won't work with packard Bell R450

Wow, it's about time to dump the Packard Bell. Maybe the Video Card has gone bad in the Packard Bell and if you fix it your old monitor might work.

Screen breaks up into 4 horizontal screens when booting. Occasionally can get proper boot screen. Have reinstalled OS (Vista) still cannot boot to OS even when I have the full screen. My feeling is that...

Do a simple test - Try connecting it to an external monitor or LCD monitor (at work, a friend or neighbor's) - if you get the same thing on the LCD and external monitor, then you've got bad on-board video (MB); if you only get abnormal output on the laptop's screen and the external video is fine, then it's likely a bad screen...
