Question about Jl Audio 500/1 Car Audio Amplifier
I have 2 12 inch pioneer premier champion series subs and a 19200 w kole adio amplifier. i had them bumping this one time as i was driving and a smelled smoke i opened my trunk and alot of smoke was coming out of my subs through the port because i have a ported box. one of my friends told me you blew half of your amps power away. but i dont see how that had to do with the smoke so i baught a new amp from ebay today and im still waiting on its arrival. does anyone know exactly what the problem is i want to know is it the amp or the subs?
Open the sub box and see what it looks like before you go purchasing stuff with no problem for certain. You may have had wires touch and they will smoke. Also try connecting a different speaker to the amp and see if it works. this lets you know if the amp/speaker is working or not

Testimonial: "the amp works. so do the subs but the subs do not have the same bang they did before any of this accured and i also mad sure no wires inside are fine."
I recon you have blown a voice coil.
my guess you were running two dual 4ohm wired in parallel/parallel showing a single 1ohms load to the Amp.
When mine went pop, (i had Dual Voice Coils) it sounded a bit like a steam train. Anyways, if both of your speakers are in one box then the whole box will sound rubbish.
1st you need to determine which Subwoofer is at fault, -try removing one from the Box and connecting it directly at very low volume. the other onw car be tested while its still in the box in the same way.
Do not try and thump them while the box is open, keep the volume just loud enough to hear the "Odd" sound..
Better still use a 9v battery or similar (even a fresh 1.5v should do something), and connect to ONE voice coil at a time, the cone will move forward or backward depending on which way you connect the battery, the voice coil that doesn't cause movement is faulty.
or use a continuity meter.
2nd Either replace the blown sub, or Rewind the voice coil.
but my advice would be to replace the blown speaker.........
