This is an problem caused by the jet direct card in your printer.

Problem with the HP LaserJet 4050 Printer 82.0180

The 82.XX error represents that the External Card which is located in the formatter of the machine, either is bad or the port in the formatter is bad (This could be a Network Card or a Hard Drive really depends on your machine.)
Recommended Solutions:
Please make sure you turn off the machine before removing the card!

Remove the card from EIO slot 2 and plug it into the EIO Slot 1 is the card still does not work then the card will need to be replaced.

If both the EIO slots do not recognize the card. It's most likely the card, however it could also be the formatter.

Laser Jet 2420d. Error code 49. What is it? How do I fix it?

Hi,

This is a firmware error and this error is usually caused by a bad formatter board. To troubleshoot this issue here are some steps that you can try .

1. Press CANCEL JOB to clear the print job from the printer memory.
2. Turn the printer off, and then turn the printer on.
3. Try printing a job from a different software application. If the job prints, go back to the first application and try printing a different file. (If the message only appears with a certain software application or print job, contact the software vendor for assistance.)
4. If the message persists with different software applications and print jobs, disconnect all cables to the printer that connect it to the network or printer. 5. Turn the printer off.
6. Remove all memory DIMMs or third-party DIMMs from the printer. (Do not remove the firmware DIMM in the lowest DIMM slot.)
7. Remove all EIO devices from the printer. 8. Turn the printer on.
9. If the error no longer exists, install each DIMM and EIO device one at a time, making sure to turn the printer off and back on as you install each device.
10. Replace a DIMM or EIO device if you determine that it causes the error.
11. Remember to reconnect all cables that connect the printer to the network or computer.
12. If the error persists, replace the firmware DIMM. 13. Replace the formatter.

all the best

EIO 1 ERROR

There's probably a problem with the card in the printer. It may need a firmware upgrade, you may need to adjust settings or even change the slot. The EIO 1 means it is now in slot 1. Here are some steps to try from the HP website:

Press (Select) to enter the MENUS.
Press (Down arrow) to highlight INFORMATION.
Press (Select) to select INFORMATION.
Press (Down arrow) to highlight PRINT CONFIGURATION.
Press (Select) to select PRINT CONFIGURATION
Check if the I/O card is on ready state.
Make sure that TCP/IP status is ready.
Check the network statistics for any bad packets or bad transmition.
Try to use another slot then the one that the JD is installed on.
If the problem persist, try performing a cold reset with the JD inside.Warning: This will reset the printer's configuration to the default settings, and also to the JD so you will need to set again the network values.
