Right click my computer,click hardware then device managers.click on DVD/CD-Rom drives,right click any drives listed and uninstall.Restart your compute and it will reinstall the drivers.Good luck

What software are you using to try to create/burn CD/DVD disks?
i found when u burn too many cd,s on a dvd burner it stops burning dvd,s is this why ? buy a new one if its still new get ur money bk buy a different model : )
your drive have a problem in CD unit - the drivers with CD and DVD have 4 units (CD Read, CD Burn, DVD Read, DVD Burn) one fail not fail all, your drive can't read but burn a cd, or inverse.
buy a new drive for solve this problem.
have you installed the softwares to burn DV/CDs? maybe you hadn't installed the softwares yet. normally samsung uses NERO. check the installation kits.
The answer is what you profess.
The drive can burn CD's, read CD's and also read DVD's. Everytime I try and burn a DVD I have an unrecognized drive and the properties always show no disk: The drive burns CD's ie;music, but cannot burn DVD it can only read DVD like you say!
