SOURCE: no voice directions even if sound is set.

First press the speaker symbol and check that the volume is not down fully or that the mute box is not ticked. If it is press the mute box to untick it or increase the volume. Otherwise follow the instructions below.

1. Press Tools, then press Settings (or Locale on some models), then press Language. You will see a bar for Voice. Press Voice and select a different voice. If this doesn't solve the problem it's most likely because the voice file has become corrupted. To replace the corrupted file.
2. Download webupdater from http://www8.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=999-99999-27 and connect your satnav to your computer. Install webupdater and your satnav will look for updates. After it's finished it will give you an option to download voices. Click the ones you want and press next. The voices selected will be downloaded to your satnav.
When you have removed the satnav from the computer you'll need to select a voice again as described in para 1 above

If you had followed the directions correctly and the old speakers worked as well, take the new radio back for exchange

The volume or maybe the speakers in my 2002 hyundai sonata stopped working. Radio still comes on but no sound. What can I do.

if you happen to have a speaker available, try to test the stereo. plug in a speaker and see if it works. otherwise, i don't really like this method but, it does work... unlug your factory speaker and plug a 9v battery to the speaker, if you hear a little popping/wizzing sound, the speaker works and it's the head unit.
also, check to see if the radio has an amp. sometimes the radio will be operational, but the amp isn't and that is the problem. and the easy solution is to replace the radio with an after market of choice. factory radio's that are purchased seperately are rather expensive.

I DO NOT KNOW WHY I CANT LISTEN TO THE RADIO,OR MUSIC ON MY COMPUTER,PLEASE INSTRUCT ME ON WHAT TO DO AND HOW TO SET IT UP! THANK YOU

If you have an Internet connection and speakers, you should have no issue. If you go to any of the Internet radio sites - just google and choose one - you should be able to follow their specific directions to hear the music.

If you have tried this and it didn't work, does sound come from your machine at all? Do you have speakers attached, and have you tested them? Finally, make sure that the volume isn't turned all the way down or muted.

If you need further help, please post back with a little more detail about what is happening, and the types of equipment you have. Otherwise thank you for using and rating FixYa!

Sound problem

You have a shorted speaker or a speaker with a bad voice coil. This has been confirmed by the fact that the audio amplifier is shutting down (protection) but the unit stays powered on. The speakers will play for a few seconds or maybe even longer at lower volume, but any length or time or an increase in volume will immediateley shut off sound. This is due to the fact that a shorted speaker wire/connection will ground out or short to one another. If you have checked all connections behind the radio AND at the speakers and found no problems, then it is a voice coil on the speaker. A shorted voice coil will work until the speaker cone moves causing the short or until enough power passes through the voice coil's short to turn off the radio.
Solution:
1. You can use a voltmeter set to check continuity to test for a speaker short. Disconnect all speakers from the radio and connect one side of your meter to ground and the other to the speaker lead. An audible "beep" will confirm a short.
2. The other method would be to disconnect all speakers and re-connect them one by one until the radio's sound output shuts off again. This will be your shorted speaker.
I hope this information was helpful.

Sound problem

Make sure all speakers that are hooked up sound ok. If any of them sound lower then the others or sound distorted you may have a speaker with a partially shorted voice coil. If speaker or speakers pop when power is first applied you may have a grounded speaker that should not be grounded. Each speaker wire rides on 6vdc and if any speaker sees a ground you will have 6v across voice coil which would explain any popping noise when first turned on and radio may play for awhile then overheat. be sure speakers are 4 ohm min per ch otherwise amp will run to hot. Voice directions not working.

First, ensure that you are using the unmuted internal speakers by pressing the power button twice while the unit is on.

Do you hear beeps (button tones) through the speakers?

These are a couple things to try:

1. Change the voice from English TTS (JILL) to English TTS (JAKE) - This will demonstrate whether the voice database has been corrupted.

2. Tap the power button twice while the unit is on to switch back to fm transmitter and attempt to use your radio to tune the sound. If you succeed here, you may indeed have a problem with your internal speaker. A return of the product may be necessary.
