If the water doesn't drain from your dishwasher, check these:

  1. Drain line/air gap--A clog in this part is the usual reason that a dishwasher doesn't drain. Remove the drain line to clear any debris from the hose or hose connection at the household drain line connection. Reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher again.
  2. Pump--You can reach the pump from inside the dishwasher. Remove the lower rack, spray arm and support. Look for an impeller, a device that spins around and forces water through the spray arm. This is the wash impeller and beneath it is the drain impeller that pushes the water into the drain port. Replace it if found defective or worn out.
  3. Drain valve/solenoid---The drain valve may have a solenoid with lever that sticks or frozen and prevents the dishwasher from draining. Free up the solenoid and lubricate the lever.
  4. Belt---A certain brand of dishwasher uses a belt to drive the pump. Replace it if broken or worn out.
  5. Motor---Check it if turning or working.Turn the rotor manually to see if stuck and free it up. Replace if defective, it is not serviceable.

Miele dishwasher G 5023 SC has fault code F 179 can't find any answers on line can anyone help. It washes dishes ok. Fault appears at end of programme am thinking drain hose?

The F179 fault code on a Miele dishwasher usually indicates an issue with the drainage system. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
  1. Check the Drain Hose: Start by inspecting the drain hose for any kinks, clogs, or blockages. Ensure that the hose is properly connected and not damaged in any way. If you find any issues, clear the blockage or replace the hose if necessary.
  2. Clean the Filters: Remove and clean the filters inside the dishwasher. Accumulated debris in the filters can hinder proper drainage. Rinse the filters under running water to remove any food particles or residue.
  3. Check the Drain Pump: The drain pump is responsible for removing water from the dishwasher during the drain cycle. Make sure the drain pump is free of any obstructions. You can access the drain pump by removing the bottom panel of the dishwasher. If you find any debris or blockage, remove it carefully.
  4. Ensure Proper Installation: Verify that the dishwasher is installed correctly, including the drainage system. Ensure that the drain hose is properly connected to the drain pipe and that there is no obstruction in the plumbing system.
  5. Reset the Dishwasher: Try resetting the dishwasher by turning off the power at the circuit breaker for a few minutes. Then, turn the power back on and run a test cycle to see if the fault code clears.

Kenmore washing machine 2 year old is now flooding my floor every 20 loads happiend 4 times. Please help.

Is the water flooding coming from the top of the washing machine?
Check the drain pipe in the back to see that it's not loose. Also, look inside the drain pipe and make sure there is no algae. Algae might cause low flow through the drain pipe and it will overflow.

Hope this helps.

Machine starts to spin out of control

Both problems could be related to a blocked drain, from what I can see in the manual. 3 Things to check -

1. Clean the filter - instructions can be found on age 24 of the manual.
2. Check the drain hose has no kinks/securely fitted.
3. Check the drain trap under the sink for blockages. Make sure waste water can drain away freely.

Keep a couple of old towels handy when checking the drain filter, if water is trapped in the machine, it will flow out of the filter housing when you remove it. Try a drain cycle for a minute or two before you remove the filter, then turn the machine off, and check it. That way you'll have drained as much water as it will allow.

The manual can be found here- http://service.candy-domestic.co.uk/manuals/pdfs/CNW156.pdf

A load of wash got "stuck" at 22 minutes left on the wash cycle. I turned off the machine. I turned it back on. Now the door is locked. How can I unlock the door and restart the machine?

Try starting a cycle and then cancelling it. Could also be problem draining. Check pump filter. I have had this twice on my indesit washing machine. You have to take the front cover off the bottom and then unscrew the filter to check it. Be careful as it will gush with water if the drum isn't drained.
Check the drain pipe for blockage by disconnecting far end of it and lowering to floor level (in a bowl). If no blockage then water should drain out of the drum by gravity.

Water not drainiNg after completion of cycle

Hi,
Check for any kinked hoses and check the drain spigot under the sink where the drain hose connects into the u bend. Usually this is where food gets trapped due to the spigot not being drilled out large enough. This then causes a blockage. Also check the non return valve under the filter and make sure the drain pump can turn freely. This should solve the draining issue.
As for the dishes not being cleaned on the top drawer check the holes on the top spray arm. If the holes are blocked up with food you will get poor wash results. Best way to clean the spray arm is to remove it by unscrewing it and giving it a good clean under the tap and poking the holes to clear any blockages.
Hope this helps

My hoover 540 washing machine started making funny noises a couple of loads ago (loud banging noise during spin cycle). Now it goes through whole cycle but when it gets to 'drain' part of the cycle,...

Sounds like a blockage in the outlet pipes or filter. It may be possible to drain it if you can get the outlet pipe (one from back of machine) outside, lay it flat on the ground as this will take it below the water level in the machine and may slowly drain. Once it drains out enough the machine should disengage the door lock to allow you to open it. Then check your filter and pipes for blockage. If no blockage is found then suspect faulty pump.

The washer goes into spin cycle but the water will not pump out. I've checked the fuse and it is good.

hi there......if the water will not pump out its a fair bet you got a problem with the drain pump.....first open and clean out the filter unit...then try drain cycle on machine...ok....if not ok...remove and check drain pump for blockage....remove bottom hose to drain pump from machine and check for blockage in the hose and also for blockage in drum...sock etc...reassemble and all should be well again

Maytag dishwasher not draining fully

Try cleaning out the air gap.  The air gap is not part of the machine, and is located on your sink. If this becomes clogged, it may cause the machine to not drain properly.  Also, I know you said you checked the drain hose and cleaned as far as the filter and chopper blade, but have you checked the lower filter?  There is a filter located underneath the machine that should periodically be cleaned.  To check this, you need to access the machine from underneath by removing the bottom vanity cover. Hope that one of these helps!

At the end of the cycle the water is not draining out of the tub. I vac'ed out the water, removed the filters and checked for debris but found non.

Check drain hose first.

If you do not find any blockage, then you will need to access the pump, remove pump hose and look for blockage in there.

If there is no blockage at all, then either the water level switch, a faulty pump (not switching from recirculate to drain) , a wiring problem, or a faulty timer board can be cause the machine not draining.
