Question about Toshiba Satellite A65-S126 Notebook

2 Answers

My toshiba a65 is having errors with the cd writer/dvdrom. drive not working. Don't have new drivers available to install, but is telling me my current drives are missing or corrupt. I have used a MY BOOK to load my recovery disk onto and tried to reinstall the drives for the cd/dvd, says there are no drives available that are better than the current drives.

First you will need to uninstall your current driver, then visit the toshiba website to download proper driver for your exact model. You can also use the recovery disc, but depending on when it was created, the problem may reoccur. Safest bet is to use Toshiba's site. Keep in mind that other software or downloads may be affecting your hardware, and may do so again in the future.

Shouldnt have to install drivers for cd/dvd drives. Try googling "upperfilters" and "lowerfilters" for fixing cd/dvd drive issues. Could even be a bad drive.

Take the laptop *and* your DVDs/CDs to a qualified technician.
It seems like the drive is "intermittently" failing, and needs to be replaced.

If you have an ATI video card in your notebook, (and chances are you do), go to Safe Mode, uninstall the old ATI driver, restart, go to normal mode and download and install an updated version of your driver. Keep us posted...

Dvd-rom driver not working on toshiba satellite A65-S126 laptop

Ok here is the thing. the driver that you are referring to is native to the XP operating system. Meaning the driver is embedded. If the CD/DVDROM comes up under my computer that means only 1 thing. The driver is ok. if you have tried more than 1 CD and the drive still does not read it., it means only 1 thing. The drive is defective. if you use an external drive via USB you should not have any problems. If you do then you will need to reload Windows but that will be an unlikely event.

Toshiba Satelite A65-S1762 hard drive problem

That means that the disk has a bad sector.

Try chosing the option to format the hard drive during the system installation.

If that does not work, then replace the hard drive.

Try to get an Windows XP or Vista CD.

Boot the computer with the cd on drive.

Be sure to select to boot from CD in setup(F2 key I think) or boot menu (F9 key I think)

If the computer boot from CD, probably you have a software problem, else your drive is damaged.

Good luck.
