Search for updates manually. especially for installer 3.1 install it and restart your computer. Check Services and make sure windows automatic update service is set to automatic and started. Check time and Date and download the latest version of internet explorer from microsoft site. Install it and it will automatically update many root certificates for your windows. Set the security setting of internet explorer to default level and finally try to use update application of windows. It should work.

Error bigpipe win xp professional sp2

This is due to a security flaw in SP2. You will need to download SP3 update from Microsoft!
IF you go to Microsoft XP SP3 Manual Update, follow this link and download the update then run it. This will correct the issue.
I also suggest that turn on automatic updates. Although XP is no longer supported by Microsoft you will still get all the old updates.

How can i solve "

Without knowing a whole lot more about your system, my only suggestion is to be sure your computer has all the most current Microsoft Updates.
Find your link to Windows or Microsoft Update, and follow that link. Select and accept all updates offered by Microsoft, and allow them to be installed. Restart your computer after that and see if things work better after the system software has been updated to current.
I do hope this helps.
Cheers!

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 and hasn't updated in almost a year... I keep getting: Windows Update error 80072efd. I tried the fixes recommended by Microsoft, but cannot fix my computer. Any fixes?

It may be your antivirus or firewall settings not allowing that site...You can allow it under TOOLs>Internet options>security>trusted sites then allow---go to the site directly and "check for updates" http://*.update.microsoft.com
