Question about RCA G36705 36" TV

1 Answer

Intermittent loss of sound

Sometimes we go days with no problems. then for no apparant reason there is heavily muffled pop and the sound is gone. Picture and channel select are great. The only fix is to remove complete power from the TV, wait about 5 minutes, plug set back in, and turn back on. Sound may last for the many days or it could drop out again after a few minutes. If it drops out, I have to leave it unplugged longer.

Hpesoj the problem comes from the satellite in the sky, too many bits of data for your chassis, only fix involves adding a capacitor to the microprocessor, note that if the modification is done your closed captioning will no longer work, but it`s the only thing that will stop it other than un-plugging the ac cord waiting for a short time and then re-apply the cord, which you have already found out, any local tv tech should be aware of this "so called fix" give them a call, good luck, BMW Rider

I have a 93 Lexus ls 400 and it drives fine for awhile then out of the ordinary the check engine light pops on and the car all of a sudden losses power and won't acelerate any suggestions?

When the engine management system (EMS) detects a fault the car goes into "Limp Mode". This allows the car to be driven, but without any performance so you are not stuck at the roadside. EMS problems sometimes come up for no apparent reason, doesn't always mean there is an actual fault and it may just be a dodgy sensor. Unfortunately, you will have to get it checked out in this case because the car is virtually undriveable as it is.

It sounds like one of the Electrolytic Capacitors in the TV has gone, this can be caused by voltage fluctuations, Ambient Temperatures around the TV and sometimes they just fail for no apparent reason. If you are handy with some basic electronic tools you could open the back of the TV and you would possibly see the remains of the blown component as bits of paper like material around where a capacitor used to be.

Your receiver is HDMI version 1.1,1.2 or 1.2a and just don't work with anything to be honest with you. It's an HDCP (copyright Issue) and 5v pass thru issue. and the list goes on. If you can, just run HDMI directly to the TV and optical or Digital Coaxial to your receiver for audio and all will be well again. If you need more help, just post a comment and I will gladly help some more

Hello dan5260,

Your audio processor might be going bad or at least one of the capacitors might had malfunctioned.
We are actually not talking about much expense in fixing this problem. At my shop here how the pricing would go:

Parts: $20.00-$30.00
Labor: $60.00 per hour (1 hour limit) Total $120.00
Starter Fee: $30.00

So total will be about $170.00 - $180.00

This is just an estimate based on my shop, your local shop might charge more or less.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

Shuttle83

Intermittent audio output

It's quite possible one of the relays is failing that is part of the switch between audio output choices.  Do you notice any output difference between a certain output (i.e. dvd, tape etc)or is that point arbitrary?
