Broken Answering Machine Cassette Tape

Hi,
The cassette tape (incoming messages) in my previously trustworthy Panasonic Answering Machine (model KXT1427) is stuck. The right spool keeps whirring & and I can't get the cassette out b/c some metal is sticking out into the cassette preventing me from lifting it out. The great repair shop I took it to in SF years ago has closed down. How can I fix this? If not, know any great repair shops around South SF Bay Area, Calif.? Thank you!

    Hi Robert,
Thanks. I had tried unplugging it, to no avail. Tried doing as you said and unplugging the phone line, but it still doesn't work. When I put just the AC power line in, there is a constant "whrrr..click..whrrr..click..whrr..click" sound and the mechanism keeps trying to move the cassette tape. Now this is after this machine has had solid, dependable performance for years, which is why I like its simple model. Any other suggestions? Thank you!!

I believe all you need to do is unplug it or take it out of answer mode. keep in mind you have to unplug the phone line as well as it will get power from it.

Model PV-D4732. How can I get cassette to eject?

When you press EJECT, the tape has to be withdrawn into the cassette and the shutter closed before the cradle can be lifted to clear the spindles and allow the cassette to be shoved out. You will have to disconnect power and remove the cover to expose the complex inner workings and I suspect you will find a tangle of tape or a broken tape. Some careful work with appropriate tools will allow the tape to be stuffed back into the cassette or (worst case) cut out. You can apply power again and you may be able to observe the sequence of ejection operations before reinstalling the cover.

Can I retrieve an erased greeting message on a panasonic answering machine model #kx-TG9341T

Unfortunately the news is not good. The answering machine does not have tape storage. Everything is stored on a memory chip. Anytime you re-record the incoming call greeting, you overwrite the previous greeting. Sorry.

Why won't answering machine work

Hi Julie,
If yours is a cassette or other type tape recording answering device - check that the tape hasn't broken. If a digital recorder / or cassette tape type, be sure that the recorder isn't full or that you're at the end of the tape. Erase / delete old messages to recapture recording space. If you need more help, please provide the model number of your device.

Dictaphone ExpressWriter system - tape will not rewind, play, ff

Is this a standard-size cassette unit? Is the model number a 2740 or 2750? When you first plug the power in, does the machine make two clicking noises? Does the display show 'CAS' or 'No Cassette'?

I got Panafax UF-595 and this fax keeps saying "check cassette info code=011" and does nothing else. What am I supposed to do to make it work?

There is a small plastic tab broken off of the front of the paper cassette.

Remove the paper cassette
remove the rear brown tray
remove the toner
set the machine on it's back side
wad up a small piece of electrical tape

stick the tape in the black U-shaped photo sensor at the bottom left corner of the machine to cheat it.

Phonemate 8800 answering machine (micro cassette - not digital). Turns itself off and shows "E3" in window. What's wrong???

"E3" says "Incoming message tape is missing, stuck, or broken. Replace the tape" I had the same message. My drive belt broke. I put a rubber band in it's place and all works OK now. I need to order a new belt, but haven't yet.
